2011 F150 XLT 5.0 V8 Lemon!

I'm having some problems with my 2011 xlt 5.0 V8 that sound like a trend.

Truck began having episodes of stalling around 500 miles. It would stall out coming to stops or stopped, and would idle roughly before it died. After every time I started it after stalling there would be a burning smell. The gas gauge would go from 1/2 tank of gas slowly down to empty and say it was empty even with 1/2 a tank of gas. Gas guage keeps moving around 1/8 tank; I had 1/4 tank and it would go to 1/8 then back up to 1/4 and so on. The dashboard lights would randomly go from dim tobright and back and the dome lights turned on and stayed on--all randomly once. The sync intermittently works, when it works it will not play music from an iphone over sync. Plugging in a usb to the iphone will not play music. Thats it so far.

Dealer said the codes they got contradicted eachother and did not know what to replace. Ford hotline told them to replace 02 sensors and it stalled for the mechanic after replacing them. They placed a sensor on the fuel pump but could not get the truck to stall again. Replaced fuel pump and driver anyway even though they were not sure if that was the problem. Now the truck feels like it has a rough idle for like a second or two randomly but I havn't gotten it to stall yet. They told me the burning smell was from part tags burning off the exhaust even though I told them it only got that burning smell when it was restarted after stalling. They had no idea about what to do about the gas gauge, lights, and sync issues and didn't do anything.

The truck was in the shop for 2 times totalling 11 days. MA lemon law gives them 3 repair attempts or 15 days.

This is the kicker, they gave the truck back to me with scratches all over the bed. I had never used the bed of the truck as I only had it for 7 days total. The scratches were not there before because I am **** about detailing my vehicles and checked the entire surface for scratches. They put 400 miles on it "driving around to recreate the problem." The sales guy told me to my face that he took an hour out of his day and drove it up and down the highway to get the problem to happen even when I told them the problem only happens when the truck is coming to a stop. What were they using the bed for?

I had to cut a personal check to the service department manager because he put gas in it while driving it to recreate the problem, $80. Ford is cutting me a check for my first months payment and $80. Why do I have to pay the guy and not ford? They offered to give me the extended warranty but I had already got it so they gave me a premeire maintenance plan which covers all maintenance for 3 year, 45K miles instead. Extended warranty is $1800 and they wouldn't tell me how much the premeire maintenance plan costs. So are they saving $ because I already got the warranty?

They stuck me in a ford focus as a rental and would not give me a truck to drive enen though they were informed I needed a truck for work.

Mechanical, electrical, and now cosmetic problems. Ford will not buy the truck back so here I am screwed with this lemon until it can legally become a lemon.

What does everybody think?

Sounds as if you have a problem truck, you're dealing with a lousy dealer but you are on top of it. Not sure what you want to hear.

I'm surprised that they have not reflashed the PCM.

Lousy dealer......I guess if you want it to be classified as a lemon keep bringing it to them.....bypass the service person and start talking with the owner/dealer manager.....I know it sucks but you're going to have to play their game.....

As for the scratches and gas......tell them to get bent.......its their dime that should pay for that....

I used to beat my head aganist the wall with people like this until I took a neighbors suggestion and called a lawyer. Now, if I have a hassle with a place, I just make a call.
It actually surprised me, the first time I used one, the results an attorney can get. Don't
know about other folks, but it's worked for me when I've felt like I'm up aganist it and don't know where else to turn. Make a printout of what you've described, good job by the way, and go find one.

Do not give in to a dealer like this. You have a new truck, when it returns from service it should look the same (or better/some dealers give em a wash) and they should address ALL of your problems. Let the dealer know exactly how what you want done IN WRITING. If you get no response contact Ford directly

Customer Relationship Center
800-392-3673
Available 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Local Time
Monday-Friday

If that gets you nowhere get the BBB involved. If that gets you nowhere contact you state's attorney general office and yes if need be get a LAWYER.

Try to give the dealership a chance to make things right, but if need be use all the options at your disposal.

I realize this board is for Ford fans, but FoMoCo needs to realize they are not the only manufacturer and that customer service and SATISFACTION should be THE #1 priority.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Wow, sorry to hear about your issues but this same thread on three different websites really?

What do you want to hear from other Ford owners?

Definitely sounds like a lemon. I know of several people who have the new 5.0, including myself, and I have yet to hear a complaint about this motor.

I see nothing wrong with posting the same thread on "three different websites"

Charging you for the gas is BS. The gas needed to mileage test the truck should be part of the warranty cost, and the cost for their service dept. .

Sorry to hear about the problems with your new truck. I tend to agree with the suggestion of a lawyer.

Where in MA are you? Just wondering if you are dealing with a dealership that I'm familliar with.

As far as the gas goes, yeah I would tell them to get bent over that--it was an expenditure caused by "excessive testing", i.e. "if I drive it in 4 hours, I'll drive it another 4 and charge the guy extra." And they MUST fix the scratches on the bed--bar none.

The problem is that I don't agree you have a lemon truck. There is very likely a single problem you have had since the beginning, and a single solution. It's harder to find root cause, but I don't think you have multiple issues on your truck. Fix that single problem, and I bet your truck would be like new.

The dealership, and service procedures, is what is causing your biggest problem, which should be referred to as 'lemon service'. You still deserve a new truck if they can't find the problem in 3 tries.
