I think on a supercrew the 6.5' bed is a must. That is a good size cab and the truck needs something to balance it out. I am not a fan of the supercrew with 5.5' bed because I feel the 4 door cab just overwelms it and as someone already mentioned if you actually use the truck to haul things, that extra foot can sometimes mean the differance between 1 load or 2.

I like the look of the 6.5 bed better on the new model trucks and the 5.5 bed on the older trucks with the slightly smaller cab. JMO

Great pics on this thread

I am on my second f-150 crew with the 6.5' bed and it would be hard to go back to a shorter bed!! My 06 had a 6" lift and 35" tires, my 09 has a level kit and 3" block in rear and just yesterday had BFG 285/65/20s put on the stock platinum wheels... WOW it looks like a completly different truck!! I will post photo soon

But towing a long trailer (sleds?) I would much rather have the longer wheelbase. That is what I use for my enclosed trailer. I do have a toolbox in the bed to break up the lines though.

Wow, ak_cowboy is right! So many sexy trucks!

I've looked at SuperCrews, SuperCabs, EB, 5.0, I'm at truck overload!

At the end of the day, I'm picking up a black Lariat SuperCab EB with the 6.5' bed ... I'd rather be able to haul stuff than people - and the back seat of the SuperCab has plenty of room for people to sit, especially if I make the front passenger move his or her seat forward!

Also, I live in the DC metro area, so parking is a concern - the longer bed and shorter cab keeps the wheelbase in check.

It is a Legend 27x7 sled trailer. I have the max tow and it pulls like it's not there. Just as well as my old 06 F350 diesel. Love the Eco. Coming from a 8 foot box I couldn't deal with a 5.5 foot. 6.5 is just right.

Nice setup, looks like a sweet sled trailer. Where are you from and where do you ride? What kind of sleds? We ride cats and I am itching to head out west and ride. What kind of mileage empty and towing the trailer?

later

Thanks. I'm near Edmonton Alberta. I ride around home and in the BC mountains. Revelstoke, Golden, McBride, and Valemount. I currently have a 2011 Polaris Pro RMK. I haven't had the trailer on a lot yet but I'm getting around 11 mpg (US). Not much less than my old f350 diesel.
