LED Bed Light Install

I finally got annoyed that I couldn't see anything in the bed at night or with the cover closed.
Tonight my buddy who owns a custom audio/fab shop and I Installed 4 - 24" led light tubes (60 led's each). 2 on each side of bed just below the rail. Wired a momentary switch to the inside of bed on driver’s side just below stake pocket. The 7 pin trailer plug is only powered when key is in ignition and power on so that idea was out for power. LED's are wired to a 12 volt constant line ran from the dash.
Lights are from superbrightleds.com. Model # wlf-xw60smd.

LEDs are super bright, weather proof and fairly sturdy.

Let me know what you think. Thanks

Brian

Originally I was contemplating a battery set, but then you have to worry about batteries. This way its powered by the 12 volt constant and no need to worry, plus these are brighter than with batteries.

LED's use soo little power the the battery on these trucks is soo big you could run those LED's for day's before you even have to think about draining your battery.

I can't wait to do this with my bed. There's soo many options out there I just don't know what to go with.

bingo.

Very nice install! I would've ran the wires a little cleaner than that but it works!

How are these holding up so far?

I recently put an ARE cap on my truck and am less than satisfied with the 12v dome light it comes with.

Was hoping to tap into the power for it and install one of these "bars" above each sliding window shining down into the bed.

I have a 6.5' bed, I think just one light bar mounted high on the cap should be enough to illuminate the entire bed.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Different brands to consider?

My wife bought me the $80 Recon set and I was very disappointed with what I got for the price. I decided that I could probably build a better one for cheaper. I bought 10 LED pods from Joe Florida on Ebay, heavy duty velcro (to attach to the Bedrug), and some speaker wire. It took about an hour, but I soldered it all together, tucked the wires behind the Bedrug and it looks ten times brighter than the $80 Recon set. I think that it set me back $30.

I wired mine to a 9v battery connection and have been using that for the past 6 months instead of running a wire from the truck battery.

I think I have settled on these and am going to give them a shot.

One question; do I need to buy some sort of voltage reducer, or is that built into the light?

Was going to wire (1) 12" above the rear glass and then (2) 24" on either side above the sliding window. Going to wire them all together coming off of a rocker switch.

Other than ordering the lights and the mounting kit, anything else I need to get from them? Will be getting the wire and connections at the hardware store.

Also, how heavy are the 24" lights? I have carpet on the inside of my cap and was hoping to be able to use heavy duty velcro to attach them to the carpet instead of screws.
