2012 Model year is looking bleak..
The last Ford dealer bulitons I read on the fleet website last week indicated that any F150 model with nav or optioned with nav for 2012, had availabilty listed as TBD. (To be determined). Meaning they still did not have any solid plan together as to when they would start building any F150s with NAV again. I am sure at some point they will get it all sorted out.
I keep hering about this my ford touch, but I am not sure what the differences are between that system and the Sync travel link Nav systems that have been in the trucks the past 2 or 3 years.

Sucks they won't have your options. I personally feel factory stereo/nav is a huge rippoff, but maybe thats because I enjoy installing it myself with much higher quality components.
I myself may look to order a 2012 Lariat 6.2L Supercab maybe a year from now, we'll see how this all pans out.

Me neither, I wasn't too crazy about the old ones either. But I like them a little better than the new ones.
If I could afford a Raptor I wouldn't have much mod money.:o But I would replace the wheels and tires.

Navigation System Won't Navigate
Good Evening. I'm new to the forum tonight, and am looking for answers for the Nav system. I have a 2011 Lariat SuperCrew with the EcoBoost, new in June. I made a trip to upstate NY right after the purchase, but tried to map my route before I left. No joy! I wanted to go up the Eastern Shore, but the system would only route me through Richmond, VA, through DC and Baltimore, then up the Jersey Turnpike. I tried all the "avoid" things, but no help there. I've been on the phone with Ford people, Navteq people, and the dealer and they all tell me the same thing..........you can't plan your own route. This sucks for a $2000 system. I can get more from a $100 TomTom or Garmin. Am I doing something wrong? I can't believe that it's that difficult to use. Any help out there? Other than the nav system, I love the truck.
I wanted them too cause I love the way the look on BMW's and Audi's..
They are not std on anything right now, as of last week you still can't order any F150 with Nav 11' or 12'.
As for the NAV route planning? I think there may be a way to make it go where you want, but I think you have to add in between destinations. For example in stead of just doing a point a-b destination try a-b-c-d meaning make b and c towns POI along the route you want it to use. That may force it to take the route you want.
As for aftermarket, I have looked in the past and still check the crutchfield catalogs for aftermarket navs with the same features as the OEM nav. So far I have never seen an aftermarket nav with the same features as the factory Ford NAV. In particular I have not seen anything out there with Travel link, and quite often the steering wheel audio controls don't work with aftermarket systems as well. Then there is the center stack issues on the 09+ F150s with wild button layout that they have , which might also be an issue with aftermarket radios, at the minimum you would have a quite few buttons no longer funtional.

I just ordered a FX4 luxury with Nav on Friday, I was told that the 1st 3weeks of August Navs are only going in the Harleys, my dealer has my build date to be 1st week of September, and my dealer said his computer accepted the order for it
I just logged onto my Ford fleet site and I can't help but think if you ordered an 11' with Navigation in July, that one is probably not going to get built. 2011 Nav build out happened several months ago somewhere mid June marked the end of production of 11s with Nav.
However they have updated the build date this week reguarding the 58A NAV system. It has been showing TBD, it has changed to now showing Job 1 for 2012 MY F150s with 58A Nav option is seting at 11/1/11, and no longer saying TBD for the 58A. So that is really good news for those that were wanting F150s with NAV. at least we know when they plan to start building them again. That is probably not good news if you were thinking they were going to switch to my ford touch, which I am still not sure what they difference is between the 2.
