2012 F-150 Preview Guide!!!

The 2012 F-150 chapter starts on page 66.

link: https://www.fleet.ford.com/downloads...uideFNL_lr.pdf

A couple items of note:
- 36 gallon tank optional (was fleet only for 2011. EcoBoost?)
- SuperCrew gets heavy duty payload (awesome!)

The max payload increase is incredible. SuperCrew 6.5' bed 4x4 has only 100 lbs less payload than the 8' bed supercab with heavy-duty payload package, and MORE payload than the heavy-duty payload package trucks of previous years.

This is not all that is new for 2012. More changes are to be revealed soon.

I have been waiting very impatiently for this to come, the rest of it needs to hurry the hell up... I want to finalize my 2012 Raptor order so it can drop in the first day the order bank is open so I can hopefully get a new truck by December and not a new truck in the middle of next year.

A couple of things I saw there. First, more than likely the 26 gallon tank will remain the standard for the ecoboost. Chances are what they mean by optional is that you get the 36 gallon tank with the 5.0 and 6.2. Secondly, and it really doesnt pertain to these boards so much, but why in the hell are they continuing to use the 5.4 in the expedition? They have 3 good motors(5.0, 3.5, 6.2) that they could probably port with little engineering right into the expy. As far as I am concerned, it is the biggest drawback to the expedition. The expy needed the new powertrains worse than Rupert Murdoch needed lessons on personal privacy. Uch, some decisions that ford makes have no sense associated with them.

^ agree. It seems like they are just waiting for it to die on the vine like the Ranger and Crown Vic. They are making money hand over fist with every sell because they haven't put much R&D into the poor expy. With CAFE and poor sales they could care less. Ford would rather you get a Explorer or Flex for SUV's so they could just cancell it all together.

A local dealers' sales rep said the 2012 Expy will be a completely all new redesign since the existing model is already 4 years old, so I assume that the new engines would be popped in the lineup then. It makes sense since the Expy has typically been taking the lead in new designs at least a year before the F-150 undergoes a redesign.

Then again, what do sales reps know, eh?

After all the promises that were made by Ford, that a larger tank would be available on SuperCrew, that they were working on it, I don't see how they cannot bring a larger tank to EcoBoost. If they limit it in any way, it may be for the 6.5' heavy-duty supercrew only. If there is no 36 gallon tank again on any of the EcoBoosts, I will be stunned.

Apparently there will be no more 6.2L Platinums. It says SuperCrew LARIAT and RAPTOR only. Not that I was interested in the 6.2. I'm going for the EcoBoost FX4.

Larger tank, heavy-duty payload on supercrew, green. Ford really does listen to their customers. All of these options were frequently requested by us on the forums and chat sessions.

jcb206 is reporting there will also be MyFord Touch. If true, the 2012 F-150 will be near perfect and possibly the greatest F-150 and half-ton ever!

Would love to see the option of LSD in the FX4. Or Dual Climate in the XLT. Those 2 options i really want and cant get unless I go BIG with a Platinum.

Looks like power fold mirrors with the max trailer tow! And 2 speed AWD with Lariat 4x4! Now if we can get 36 gallon tank with ecoboost, then I will be set.

Looks like I will be ordering a 2012.

I don't see Platinum in that guide! I hope that isn't so!

Ugh. That's the ONE thing I dislike about my truck. Not the tow mirrors, I love them! Just the fact that they're not power folding...

2012 Lariat Supercrew Ecoboost 4X4 with 36 gal tank, power folding mirrors, 6.5' bed, 2 speed AWD (Hope this is still a true 4X4 system, looks like it) with 1 TON of payload.

The word I heard about MyFordTouch was that it would be available mainly for a replacement for the Nav system. Have never used MyFordTouch before but I guess it is about the same thing as far as a touch screen that integrates everything from phone, music, and nav like the current nav. Haven't seen where ford has confirmed this, but expect an answer soon. They can't (shouldn't) just skip the nav option. A lot of buyers are interested in this.

Anyone played with MyFord Touch before that can fill me in?

The F150 is going to get MUCH lighter in the next few years (2016 gov fuel standards) or be increased to over 8500 GVWR to not be affected. If you want a smooth riding truck that can tow 10K and get decent mileage and power, now is the time. In 5 years you will have to buy a SD and a car (or F100) to drive or buy an older truck. I'm just going on and on...guess that 2011 I ordered will have to go to someone else.

Hmmm. With this payload thing being boosted, I may stop looking at an F350. I'm sure a loaded Lariat Screw with the 6.5 foot bed still will settle at around 2000 pounds payload IF we are lucky.
