USB device not working.

Am I doing something wrong? Brand new 2011 F-0150 with Sync. Had a sandisk I tried to connect. Hit aux menu no play list available. Thought it was the device so I went and got another flash drive. Same thing. nada.

any suggestions?

Did you format it Fat32 before you put any music on it? You have to be sure that is done prior to plugging it into the truck. Most of the time the manufacturers of those discs put some information on it and it sometimes prevents it from reading it.

you must make sure you have fat32 formatting on your thumb. i would say 99% of stuff you buy now has the ieee format since fat32 is more of an obsolete format setup. easiest way to tell is go to my computer and click on system and then look at your drives. it will tell what the format is on the drive in question.

like said fat32 and make sure songs are mp3.

if you are using itunes you will need to convert songs to MP3 for them to play properly. a few songs from itunes are protected and won't play on the radio.

try it first. i just know itunes doesn't work on most of their songs. their are multiple formats that work so check before you waste time.

if you do convert on itunes you can do it all at once, and then IIRC go to itunes tabs click display duplicates and you can delete the old versions so you don't have doubles on everything in your library.

I hate embarrassing moments.

Had to go in to menus and select the USB device. the aux setting defaults to line in. Plays WMAs. all is good now. I am very very embarrassed. Helps to actually read the manual zaneluke.

No worries - I'm impressed you're man enough to admit the reading the manual part! (kind of like asking for directions before the days of GPSs).

Well done and glad you got it working.

Aux button should default to usb now, until you use line in or bluetooth again.

Not exactly - the USB ports (and devices) are considered USER devices. AUX is line in.

The auxiliary button is not used for the USB with a flash drive.

Without any bluetooth connected our a line in, mine goes to my usb when I hit the aux button. It may default to the others but mine still works for it.
