What have you been getting on trade in ?

Well today it started, the negotiations for a 2011 6.2L fully loaded Raptor have started If I can get the numbers I want then soon I hope to be driving one around =) If not, so be it.

For those of you that have traded in an 09+ F150 to upgrade and or go a different route what have you been getting on the trade in ? My truck is an 09' F150 platinum with only 14k miles, clean title, paid for.

Now I want 38k trade in on the truck, which in my mind is reasonable seeing I am willing to pay the 54k sticker on the window they are asking. Does 38k seem reasonable or am I looking to get to much ?

My truck has been heavily modified, not normal in anyway and I know they will use this as a way to say they cant do as much, but in this matter I call BS. I had a 07' 300c SRT8 with 38k miles on it, custom 3 peice wheels and dropped and the same dealer gave me $28.2k trade on that so I figure they might be willing to work with me.

The fun of buying a new truck

Mods don't help trade in at all, if you are selling it outright then that's another story.

Birddog,
Not sure why you took the time to post the obvious. I'm asking 38k trade in on the truck as comparable 09-10 platinums with 24-32k mileage are sailing for 36-42k around here. I'm not factoring mods to my trade in value at all.

Even then on an outright sale if only ask $42k as it is and go from there.

If I had an 09 Anything let alone a platinum w/ only 14K miles on it & it was Paid for, I'd just keep driving it. Must be nice to have that much $$$$$$ lol.

Good luck on the buy!

If I am understanding you correctly you are willing to trade for the 16K plus tax, title, and license minus rebates. Is this correct? I am glad to see that you are trying to compare full retail to full retail. So then the only real question is could you actually sell your truck for the 38K? If you can then you have made a fair offer. If you cannot then you need to adjust your offer. Any good dealer is willing to trade in terms of full retail to full retail. They are also willing to talk in terms of you stealing their truck and them stealing yours. Most of the time when deals cannot be worked out is when the customer wants the dealer to give their truck away and to pay more for the trade in than the dealer can go to the dealer only auctions and pick up a similar truck for. Good luck to you.

03fx4jd,
I would, but with a possible job change and move I would have to find something that can once again both fit in a garage and parking deck.

GV1,
You understand exactly what I am trying to do, and I was hoping others here would have some numbers on what they might have got for 09+ trades as well. I wont ask them to come down on the sticker price if they give me the 38k trade in and a flat 54k out the door price. If this is something they will not do I will then start asking for the rebates simply as a way to get the rate on the Raptor down to cover the cost of the tax/title/licence etc.. In this market I see the 38k for a mint 09' with 14k miles as giving the customer what he wants, and the sticker for the Raptor as givinng the dealer what he wants. In the end the dealer moves a Raptor, and will make more than the 38k off my truck on the lot and or auction.

Just want to know what others may have got on 09+ trades as well ? Anyone out there ?

Looking at edmunds.com shows that you are asking too much.

What really blows is they wont give your crap for your custom parts, but they will turn around and use those mods to sell it for way more than they give you. I guess its just how the game works, they have a vehicle you want and every dealer is the same so theres no way around it. I wish good quality modifications made the value higher. It is after all a better truck than stock with the mods you have done to your Platinum. Wish I could buy it from you and give you the money it deserves. Good luck bud.

Kwb2004,
I understand kbb list it as being less but I prefer to go by local dealer sales numbers. I have a friend that works auctions for a large dealer here in SA and they just purchased a 10' platinum with 31k miles for 35k and have in sitting on the lot for 41k now. I dunno I guess I'm just not one to give up something without gaining and or feeling I gained a little =]

Brazz,
I never expected to get back what I put into it but I fully believe in enjoying what you have while you have it, and I obviously did =]. Thanks for appreciating the work I put into it !

I dunno I guess I'll see how things go and if I can't get what I want I'll have to modify my game plan. I really just gotta find something I can park in your typical home garage and office parking garage. I'd rather have one truck that fits my needs and not have to get a small daily driver and leave this truck sitting all the time as it currently has.

BlackPlat, is the truck on the lot or are you trying to order? 2011 orders have closed is why I am asking, and buying a raptor off the lot is ridiculous at some dealers. Around me they have them marked up to 60-62k and won't deal for chit..

PM me or shoot me an email and I'll give you the contact info for a NO BS, straight shooter who will give you the best deal on a Raptor every time. Plus if your in no hurry you can have one of the first 2012's, like myself Also check out the dirtiest Raptor forum on the net www.fordraptorforum.com, it is way better than RaptorForumZ for a Raptor forum. If your buying off the lot definitely head over to FRF and there is tons of info on the best tactics for buying SVT's off the lot

BTW I kept my red turd because it was paid for, I am not sure why really. Sentimental value is my only guess, I can't see it being driven much once a Raptor shows up.

FX4life,
The exact truck I want (options/color) is sitting on the Jennings Anderson lot for 52k basically just a 6.2L fully loaded grey Raptor crew cab. This is the one I want, but unfortunetly it is at a dealer that is notorious for not dealing as they have the "one true blue price" Northide Ford is a massive dealer here in San Antonio as well and has a loaded 2011 White Raptor with everything other than Nav, but I want the nav. I am going to speak with them tomorrow and see if they can source one and or possibly get the one from Jennings. I hope to find out something positive tomorrow as I am looking for a black/white/grey Raptor so something should be out there im just hoping they are willing to help/deal.

There was a black one fully loaded @ Fenton ford in Dumas, TX if you end up needing to trade. If they still have it they will have been sitting on it for close to 6-8 months I'd bet, probably willing to pitch it off. I have not been up that way in a while to see though. I know Mac Haick (sp?) has a few on ebay, not sure if they are still there or not..

Best of luck with the deal, I opted to wait for the 2012's in hopes that Race Red turns out like I envision it on the Raptor, but got screwed because of the Nav shortage so I continue to wait because I too want Nav.

Post pics ASAP!

This is somewhat relative even though I didn't trade in an 09+.. But I traded in my 05 (Pic below) back in November and got $3500 more than KBB "Excellent" trade value because of the modifications to the truck.. They initially tried to offer me allot less but then I showed them all of the receipts that I put into the truck and I got them up to $3500 more. In the end I was comfortable with the deal.. Just dont be afraid to tell the dealer how much $$ you put into the truck and the amount of $$ that you expect on trade in.. If that doesn't work, Then leave them your phone number and walk out of the dealership..

My old truck, But not nearly as modded as your truck.. You should have plenty of negotiating room with your truck value..

I traded in my 2010 F-150 back in the end of March, it was a Lariat model in platinum white paint, 4x4, crew cab, with the 5.5' bed...basically loaded except for the navigation system. The truck had 16k miles on it, and was stock besides a magnaflow catback exhaust, and they gave me 31k for the trade in value.

I was very happy with that, the original sticker price was 43k I believe, and with my previous trade-in, Z-plan, and rebates...I only paid a little under 30k for the truck a year and a half previously. KBB's trade-in value was just under 31k, and Edmunds was slightly lower...so needless to say, I wasn't complaining when they gave me 31k on trade.

FX4life,
Apparently both the Fenton Ford, and Jennings Anderson Ford inventory is locked so Northside can't offer trade for the vehicles to be brought in. Currently my dealer is talking with two other dealers in hopes something can be worked out and a trade can be done to get a Raptor brought in.

Blackout,
With what I have into the truck I have set a firm trade in at 38k, and curently Northside has a bid on it of 36k, (after being told this, he stated, "I will get the 38k") I want 38k, and if they cant make that happen or negotiate the value of the Raptor to reflect a 2k diff then I will walk.

Langford,
If you pulled 31k then I will keep the faith =) How many miles did you have on your truck ? Mine is a 09' Platinum long bed, every option and then some with 14,220 miles.

I am not trying to insult the dealer, nor want the dealer to insult me. I think paying sticker and not asking for any rebates, while asking for and getting 38k for my truck is a very fair deal, and after speaking with my dealer at Northside I feel we are all on the same page. Family has purchased 3 previous vehicles here (2 trucks, 1 expedition) and always did us right!

Anyway, soon hope to be cruising around a 11' Silver/Black Raptor.
