USB 2 Mod in an 11 questions

Hey guys and gals,

Just wondering if anyone has done the USB 2 mod in the 11 models? I have the FX4 EB and was just going to my music - I have the Billboard Top 100 songs from 1946-2006 and would like to be able to listen to whatever year.

Best place to get the pieces needed? Link?

Best hard drive to use? I know I read where some hard drives would spin up or something like that.

Anyone have the BB top 100 from 2007 to current?

Thanks for the link but I have it as "subscribed". I was just wondering if anyone with a 2011 had any issues. Within this thread, some others have reported the hard drives aren't working, so I'm wondering if their is a model/brand that works better than others.

its the same for the '11s.

the issues i have so far is sometimes the hard drive isn't receiving power, sometimes my whole sync system doesn't work but lately it's been good. it wouldn't work on my way home today from work but in the past month it's only happened a handful of times. i am going to have them look at it when it goes in the shop in a couple weeks.

Makes me wonder if that USB port is kicking out enough power to spin the hard drive up.

It depends on the hard drive. Most people these days are just buying 16gb flash drives and plugging them in that way. I've got a hard drive pulled out of a laptop in mine. If it can power that it can power most portable hard drives.

i'm running a 500gb, i think ford recommends no larger than 250 IIRC, but power can't be an issue if it works flawlessly the majority of the time. i think the sync system is just not designed well enough
