Once it clicks pull the nozzle out so you can watch the fuel come out. Only squeeze the nozzle a 1/4 - 1/2 way and keep filling all the way until the fuel hits the neck. I actually found the right angle where the fuel wouldn't foam, but still takes a while because your only getting a small rate out of the nozzle. It will kick foam back at you every now and then, but keep filling until fuel (liquid is at the neck). This will serve you well especially when towing. A trick most SD owners do is the Harpoon trick (google it). FYI, it's not bad to top off diesel trucks because of no vapor pressure and returnless fuel system, gasoline is a no no.
Thanks for the tips, but when I said the pump shut off, I meant it would not pump any more...period. To get more in, you have to put the nozzle back, swipe your card, and fill up again. When you swipe your credit card, they "set aside" a certain amount of money. When you reach that amount on the pump, the pump shuts off. One station I go to shuts off at $100. Another one is $105. This got upped from the $75 about 3 years ago.

I had already added about 2 gallons after it clicked off...I just didn't want to swipe again for another 2 gallons. Definitely, when my fiver gets here, I'll cram that bad boy as full as I can get it to get the last few miles out of a tank.

$120-$130? God, I wish. For me to fill up right now it would be approximately $164.56CAD, from scratch. 135L/36USG tank. At the current exchange rate would be $171.54USD. We're the cheapest in Canada, right now. The highest, in Ontario, would cost me $202.37CAD to fill from scratch. Exchanged that would be $210.99USD.

Anyone else wanna complain about gas prices in the US?

+1

When I bought my truck I realized it wasn't a Toyota Prius by the fact it didn't feel like I was in a "clown car" while driving. The offset to that is the fact the gas milage my truck gets sucks relative to other vehicles. I made the choice and now I'm paying the price for that choice .... literally lol.

Costed me $55.00 from half tank the other day at $3.89 I want to say, I have a 36 gallon tank..thank god I drive maybe two miles to the train each day =). I figure from empty it would cost about $120ish..yet I usually don't let either of my vehicles get below half if I can help it. I agree with the above, I bought an F-150, not a Civic - I knew what I was getting into. I still love this truck!

I filled up my truck last weekend for the first time since September, we were taking a trip over to Richmond for the race. I had 1/4 tank of fuel and it cost me 109 to fill up at 3.93/gallon. Goodtimes, its only money right..............you either have it or in this case you dont .

But while Wal-Mart has bragging rights, the real moneymaker is Exxon Mobil, no. 2 on the Fortune 500 this year. The oil giant rode soaring global oil prices to an astonishing $35.6 billion in profits — the most of any company on the list.

Fellow oil giant Chevron rounds out the top three with $196 billion in revenues, up 20%. More good news for Chevron: In March the company learned that it wouldn't have to pay billions in compensation to Ecuadorian citizens' groups who had sued Chevron's precursor company, Texaco, for environmental damage.

The oil companies are getting wealthier every day.

All Ford truck engines are designed to run on 87 octane. Some of them may run better and get better mileage on higher octane.

I've even run mine on 85 octane mountain gas out in the Rockies and it ran fine, no knocks, decent power, and decent mileage.

I had to stop and fill up my work truck today, the gas station has a limit of $150 per swipe of the credit card for Diesel...I had to swipe the card 2x. The truck is a 2009 Duramax with 2 25 gallon tanks, I wasn't completely empty...but close to it. $208 in fuel @ 4.25 per gallon, and an average of 10mpg...I'm there at least once a week.

As far as my F150, I came in just below the $75 limit on mid-grade yesterday which was $4.29 I believe, but I had a little over a quarter of a tank to start with.

I also filled up 2 6-gallon gas cans yesterday for my quad...Sunoco 110 Octane @ 6.99 per gallon, $82 and change

My truck is just under half a tank... that'll probably cost $100 to fill er up. This morning, gas was $3.79, then it was $3.99, then it went back down to $3.84. All in one day. Costs me about $50 to fill up the beater car. Sucks.
