Looking for advice/opinions on a tonneau cover for FX4
Hey All,
Looking for a tonneau cover for my FX4.
I have a stock bedliner from Ford which suffices. What I am looking for is something secure, water proof and basically something that if I take a trip and need to haul soemthing big back ect - I can basically get the cover out of the way. I know, that sounds like the Bakflip F1 or Extang. I am curious if there are any others out there. I am not looking for a fiberglass cover either.
Any opinions or advice would be appreciated.
Also, any good websites for aftermarket truck accessories ect? I have used Stylin Trucks in the past for my fathers old F-150 and they had great prices and excellent customer service.
I appreciate it.

I just ordered the Low pro QT http://www.tonneaucoversworld.com/so...au-covers.aspx
it has a lifetime guarantee, easy to install, low profile, and covers/uncovers in literally a minute....I should be getting mine today, I'll take some pics and let everybody know what I think this weekend.

I'm planning on ordering a folding cover this week. From what I have found the most bang for the buck is a soft folding cover. If money wasnt an issue Id go with a Extang or a fold a cover G4 but both are over double the price I'm able to pay.
My options with shipped prices from truckaddons.com are:
Extang Trifecta $365
Lund Genesis Tri Fold $299
TonnoPro $259
I'm gonna get a quote from 4wheelonline too and make a decision from there.

Thinking of ordering the Rollbak G2 for my dad's 11 Superduty, its expensive but it looks really well built and secure. He wants something that would be hard to break into and would get out of the way, the Rollbak only takes like 12" of bed so I think he will be happy with it.

Nothing vinyl is secure. Any knife, screwdriver, sharp rock, etc will cut it.
I like the rolling soft covers. Minimal bed space restricted when rolled up and quick access. Not secure, but hidden from eyes. Most of them have locks that must released from underneath, with tailgate open.
I don't understand the folding soft covers. Penalty of 1/3 or 1/4 bed space covered like the folding hard cover, yet unsecure.

The soft folding covers are not really secure, although you have to let the tailgate down to fold it so if the tailgate is locked it cant be opened, without cutting it or prying it hard enough to break the metal frame or the clamps under the bed. From what I have seen, a thief could get into any cover though hard or soft. Its not like they'd be worried about messing up your truck or the cover if they wanted to get in there bad enough.
To answer your question APT, A soft cover is sufficient for me because I dont carry anything of any real value in the bed for long. It will mainly be to keep things from flying around and to keep dry when I do leave something in the bed. If I need access to the full bed, the soft covers can be completely removed in a couple of minutes and reinstalled just as easily at price point of $260-$370 shipped.

I got the rollbak 799.00 shipped from truckchamp.com and really like it. Install was easy you keep access to most of your bed, it is aluminum able to hold 400 lbs although I wouldn't put 400 lbs on it. Works great and I had some issues with the cansiter cover as it got bent in shipping and they sent a new one in a week. Also went through a car wash to check for leaks and it was almost completely dry, has a few drops near the cab.

I have the Bakflip F1 and I think it's a great product. I personally like the look of the F1 over having a cover that laps over the sides of the truck. It makes for a very clean look. I also installed the bedrug with it.
As mentioned above if someone wants in the bed of your truck bad enough they will get it no matter what top you have on it.

I appreciate everyones input greatly. I know if someone wants in your truck, they will get in. I meant secure as in - you were able to lock it ect. I really do appreciate everyones input.
I don't really want to spend the $$ on the Bakflip F1, but if I can get it cheap enough it looks like thats the route im going. I am just concerned when the Bakflip F1 is all the way up, on highway speeds - does it rub/hit the rear window? Is it pretty stable/steady?

I have a G2 and it is very secur when up. It does lean against the cab but it has rubber bumpers so the cab is not scratched. It can be removed in minutes if needed wit no tools. It is hit or miss on water tight, they are advertised as weather resistant, mine does really well in that I only get a couple drops in bad storms. If you lock the tailgate it is secure. Each section snaps in place with the exception of one because I have 6.5' bed.
