Just a heads up you 5.0 v8 guys...cam lope via a tune!

Was just thinking about this...the 5.0 mustangs are able to be tuned to have the choppy lope of a old school cam by just a tune! I dont see why the f150 would be any different. Not sure of the power change or if it's good for a truck. Also not sure if they ha e all the kinks worked out but the 2012 boss does this with the 2nd key that has the race tune. It would be cool to have a 93 perf tune with the lope and a smooth cam 87 tow tune. Didn't know if this had been mentioned before.

That sounds bad. Not bad meaning good but bad meaning bad.

I'm not sure if it's good or not. I know the boss 302 has a red key that changes the cam to lope but the boss might have different cams to start. The gt tuners have just started this so im not sure if it will drive good or not. I haven't followed it much. Just wanted give the truck people a heads up. I don't think it sounds that bad. I'd love to have a cam lope...

That's not the sound I'm looking to create in my $40K truck. It maybe the video, but it doesn't sound good, or desirable at all. Sounds like the valve train is damaged. Good luck with that.

I agree A choppy cam is probably not what a lot of truck guys might want but some like me would. It's just cool too that it can be done with a tune...not actualy have to swap cams. Again I'm not sure what the outcome is going to be on the regular 5.0.

Here is ford racing vid showing the 2 keys for the boss 302.

That gray mustang looks amazing, regardless of sound.

Lopes sound cool yet are probably going to effect low end torque and drive-ability in a heavier vehicle. I guess a higher stall converter will be next. A 3000 lb rod with a 5 speed manual is a whole other deal than a 5-6K auto .

The gt has a 6spd manual or auto and is closer to 3700 but your right totally different than a truck. But I don't k iw of any dyno graphs for this tune yet to know what it does to low end. Normaly you put a different cam in that has a different grind and it takes some low end and adds it up top. But with this setup it's all done with the computer so it males me wonder if there is still the trade off.

IMO I like it... thats cool how they can do that with just a tune, changing the phasing on the cams.
