Tools you need
1) 8mm socket/wrench (makita electric impact not needed)
2) desired black spray paint
3) Blue painters tape
4) Exacto knife

i like power tool lol
take the 8mm and remove to 2 screws from light with tail gate down located above and below tailgate cable

once you have both remove now you need to remove the tail light assembly. easy just hold the light where you can grip and pull straight out the back of truck should pop out rather easily.

remove the bulbs from the assembly 3
now for the masking off because no one want to have any over spray
i masked along the edges first with excess hanging off and came back with the exacto to make all edges clean

now its time to spray i found out you have to spray a lot and rock the excess paint down the edge of the side of the tail gate all others you can just spray in the gap

now let it dry
after paint of choose has dried remove masking tape
replace 3 lights back into assembly put 2 8mm screws back in and admire.
now here are some before and after shots i got and comparison shots

hope this helps the next guy doing this

looks awesome! I did mine last summer but on the outside of the tail light. I was wondering if i could take it off and do it this way. Do you think paint thinner would be a good choice to remove it(I used nightshades) without hurting the outside of my light? This way looks alot cleaner looking.
