Finally drove the 6.2L... WAY better than EB or 5.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally got to test drive a Lariat supercrew with the 6.2L engine.... WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW..... FINALLY They got it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the engine to have!!!!! We had our 2010 Taurus in for service and they gave us a 2011 loaner for the day. I put that truck through its paces and it was the very best Ford engine that I have ever experienced in a regular F150. This blew the POS 5.4 3V engine out of the water with ease since that thing is garbage. This also was better than the 5.4 2V that I compare everything to. Also, this was FAR better than the Ecoboost and the 5L. This has MUCH more torque and power... vastly better for daily driving AND towing/hauling. Absolutely fantastic. I am working on my order for a new one right away even though it has the AWFUL blond wood interior and the crappy sound system that Ford uses now. Why can't they bring back the Audiophile that I had in my 2005 King Ranch????? I am trading in my 2010 Cadillac CTS-V 6spd manual, plus my 2000 Mustang GT to get this truck. Absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet! The only downfall of the 6.2 is the mpgs, but it is a beast for sure! I liked it and the EB well over the 5.0. I like the modability of the 6.2 over the EB plus it's all I can get in a raptor!
The Ecoboost (being forced induction) would respond to mods way better. But since they are being so **** about voiding the warranty for any mods.It will probably be a while before we see any modded Ecoboosts.
no doubt the results will be impressive like you mentioned!

Tell us what you hauled and or towed. Weight, terrain, etc
Also give us the fuel mileage for the ecoboost v.s. the 6.2 both loaded and unloaded.
Have you driven an ecoboost for a whole day? Have you towed with one?
That's what I thought.

I've driven neither and I don't want to because I'll prob end up with the Ecoboost due to driving 90% highway.
I like turbo whine as well as v8 muscle. I'm a diverse gearhead.
1/8th will all come down to reaction time on the street anyway.
I'll be getting a EB cause they're making me.(FX4) But despite all the EB advantages, if I could, I'd get a 6.2L.
But I don't get the choice.

The 6.2 is a good engine, for sure, but to say it is infinitely superior to anything else you can get in an f150 is just ignorant. Each of the motors you can get in a f150 have their merits and demerits. The 6.2 is powerful, has a great sound, and will appeal to most traditionalists. But you pay for that, on both ends, in the form of a $2K premium to start and also at the pump for the life of the vehicle. The Ecoboost provides good power and a great curve, as well as excellent fuel economy. But comes with the love it/hate it sound of a turboed 6, as well as possible reliability issues down the road due to using an unproven setup. The 5.0 provides good power, decent fuel economy, as well as an excellent exhaust note. It is, however, the weakest of the 3 2011 engines mentioned here, so it will not appeal to all of the truck buyers out there. Even the 5.4, which I am not a huge fan of, has its merits. I would be willing to bet you can get a 2010 comparably equipped with the 5.4 and spend at least $10K less on it between incentives and the original difference in price. So its all about what you put a priority on as a truck buyer, and that will dictate what you will purchase. I am glad you like the 6.2, and it is a beast, but not everyone is willing to pay the premium to drive a truck with that motor. Plus, I am pretty sure I would completely disregard the opinion of someone who would trade in a CTS-V anyway. That is one of the greatest cars of our generation, what the hell are you thinking?!
The important part is we FINALLY have some options with some real motivation here.
The last time Ford was leading in half ton hp/tq was......... 1993? (Hmm only 18 years)
Why not have the best chassis and the most power? Not a bad thing is it.
