ipad2 in FX2 dash, awesome install.
Looks like they retained the stock stereo and sync and just pulled the face. Used a aftermarket dash kit and fabbed the rest. Sweet soundman.

Looks pretty good. A couple of little quirks to be expected with aa custom job like this, but all in all very nice. Still waaayyyyyyyyy too much work to be worth it though. Also, lol on the random sync fail.

What a waste of a perfectly good iPad 2 (and $600-700 + parts and labor)...
Environmental Requirements
* Operating temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
* Nonoperating temperature: -4° to 113° F (-20° to 45° C)
* Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
* Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet (3000 m)
Unless of course you live where the temp never exceeds 95° F and never gets below 32° F.
Imagine how pissed the owner will be when his new iPad fails...

Why do you guys see this a s a waste or worthless? I don't think anyone's going to just leave it in the truck and let it bake, you take it with you just like you would do with an iphone that's why he mounted it a bit forward so it could slide in and out. My Gen1 ipad is a bit thick to do that but the newer ones like the one he used are perfect for this. Plus you get a much larger screen than the stock Nav units.
If you have the 3g it will work anywhere a cell phone will plus if you don't just use the wifi hotspot mode in synch and then plug in your usb 3g card from a laptop. You can get cheaper dataplans with these than the ipads plus you can share it with other devices in the car.
Now if I had a Gen 2 ipad I would consider this if I hadn't ordered my truck with the Sony Nav unit... Probably take me a week and not a day to do it though...

So you're going to remove it each time you leave the truck?
Nice. But I will admit that I'll look professional walking through Lowes, lumber yard, construction site, boat ramp, woods (headed to the deer stand), etc. with my iPad.
Wait, I know, I won't put it in when I know I can't leave it in the truck. So what do I do for navigation, BT phone, etc. when I'm headed to one of those places...?
Me thinks this is a perfect mod for a mall crawler truck (2WD, 6" lift, 37s, winch, light bar that never sees a gravel road).
But, as always, just my opinion.
