That's pretty cool and pretty not practical all at the same time. Thanks for posting.

I think the actual install should run you around $200, the majority of the cost was the ipad II itself so not that bad really... IF you already have the ipad.

Nope, $800 for labor. It is a pretty labor intensive job.

I dunno, if I didn't have the nav screen there I think it might be nice to have, especially with my kiwi wi-fi plunged into my OBD-2 port you could have your digital gauges full sized up there while your driving with REV/Dash command, gives you the ability to have whatever gauges you want on there without swapping out or mounting physical ones. Not to mention all the Navigation, entertainment and other apps are out there, and if you know objective C you can make your own apps for your truck...

I can see it but I'll probably just buy a good quality dash mount for mine and pocket the $750 in savings.

Does anybody have pics of this? Over here in Afghanistan our company has blocked You Tube so I can't access the video.

I'm not saying I am interested but if it can be angled over for the passenger to access my wife might find it "useful" for our three week vacation out west this summer. She has an IPad from her work and she like's to play a lot of the games and apps that can be had with it....I'll be driving so if it keeps her occupied that would be probably worth it.

Thanks for any future pics if they are out there.

If I was going to drop that kind of coin 1600$ I would just install a Carputer with this.

Much more processing power, can use any computer application, hides itself in the dash, better sound output from a 7.1 soundcard, cost less, easily upgradable to newer and faster components, and I don't have to felate steve jobs to do something with it that he doesn't like.

Interesting idea, but illegal in Alaska. Multimedia displays have to have a function that disables input from the driver while the vehicle is in motion, so if he were pulled over and a cop saw that, he'd have to have the whole thing pulled.

That is very cool! The great thing about that is you can upgrade it every couple years for pretty cheap. Also I hate that factory NAV is out of date so quick. Where as Google maps is usually up to date.
