2011 FX4 mirrors

Getting an FX4 with the luxury package and it looks like the luxury package will included the power fold mirrors. Not sure the benefit of those mirrors but for me they look ugly and I'm wondering if it would be easy to change them out with the stock FX4 (ptm skull cap) mirrors? Anybody know if it would be a bolt on swap job?

I'm also a bit worried that the upgraded mirrors will stick out farther. I already struggle sometimes to fit the mirrors of my 2005 FX4 backing into my garage stall, only have an inch or two on each side.

Power fold mirrors are the same as the regular mirrors except they power fold. Are you talking about the tow mirrors?

You must be thinking of the tow-mirrors.

My 2011 FX4 LUX has the folding mirrors, and they are just like the person above me said, PTM mirrors that fold.

Only the "Max Trailer Tow Package" gets the large mirrors.

I don't think the tow mirrors offer the power fold feature on the F150, like they do on the Super Duties. But I might be wrong on this. The salesman was pointing that out when I took delivery of my 11 FX4 on Saturday.

Not sure why Ford thinks we need this feature, on my 07 I never moved the mirrors. But then again, I don't park my trucks in the garage so maybe it's to help with that. Don't know.

I use it often.

1. Because I need to fold the mirrors to fit it in the garage.

2. I drive in Georgetown, Washington DC very often, and well, the streets are so narrow that I often have to fold my mirrors to pass an SUV or truck coming the other direction, usually just a couple of inches a part. Driving in Georgetown with a truck makes you a very precise driver.

Yes, the powerfold are the same as the "regular" mirrors - you will like them, they rock. I was on the fence about getting the luxury package because I wasn't sure I wanted black leather. But I park in the 1 car garage of our 3 car, and the powerfold is a godsend for getting that thing through the door.

Sweet, thanks guys! I was worried for nothing and sounds like what I thought was going to be a negative will end up being a bonus. What is the deal, you flip a button and the mirrors electronically fold in?

I figured it was just for parking in a garage. I never would have thought about city driving. But then again, I live out in the woods.

All you have to do is tap the mirror adjustment **** straight back for the in and out positions.

I sold my big tow mirrors and installed a set of regular mirrors off a 2011 on my 2010. I like the little beveled mirror on the 11"s
