Grille LED Install

So I am trying to figure out how well this will work with the stock grille. It appears that most of these lights are behind the mesh style grille but im trying to keep it stock. The bottom opening is a little over 30" long and 1.5 inches high. The light is 30" and I approx 2-2.5" high.

Vehicle is a 2010 F150 FX4 SC.

Any thoughts?

Also if anyone is interested I have a supplier who gives a pretty good deal.

I havent seen any F150's around here with the light mounted behind the grille, although I have seen multiple current gen expy's with them around here. I would assume it works alright, but if your opening is smaller than the height of the light you will probably lose a bit of your light output. What type of cost are you looking at for those? I may be wrong, but I think those 30" ones retail for like $1k? just curious, I was looking into getting either a 10 or 12".

any chance you could get two shorter bars and put them in the vertical voids in the sides of the grill?

Easily, but you'd still be spending around 800 dollars and getting less light. These are snazzy and all, but this isn't what I'd call a civilian mod. The only place I've seen this LED light bars that made sense were as landing lights on small aircraft.

I just installed the 10" rigid led bar. I have go to say that it is amazing. You have to get past the sticker shock at first but when you see what just the 10" light can do it is totally worth it. I was about to get the 20" and put it down in the bumper with the kit that they make. Did you consider that option before your purchase? That 30" has got to be BRIGHT! I Mounted my 10" on my Ranch Hand Grill guard. It looks nice but I might consider getting rid of the guard sometime. The only thing I can suggest is one of those smittybuilt light bars. Im sure you can fab something up. I wouldn't mount that behind the grill because you would loose a lot of the light. Is that the spot beam or flood or combo. It sure would look wicked going down the road though with all that light coming out behind the grill. Good luck to ya. PM me if you want pics of my set-up!

I have heard that LEDs don't throw light nearly as far as halogens or HIDs. Have any pics of the light output compared to ur headlights?

These things are crazy bright. Check them out on youtube or the website. They are popular on Baja style racing applications....or for me on logging roads.

I want to put it behind the grille so its hidden. No crazy about having a $1000 light in the open. Also you can buy protectors for them that will make it black from the front when your not using it.

I think I might end up getting a mesh or billet style grille.

Sorry FX4'er. This forum doesn't save PM's after they have been read. I will just put up some pics here. Like I said first. I went with the 10" because the price was high and I want to try this before I put any money into more lights. I also have some PIAA 525s that I want to put on here as well. I am still entertaining the thought of removing this Ranch Hand but we shall see.
