2013 STX 5.0 SCAB 4x4 3.55 standard gears. Just purchased with 350 miles on it. I have been getting consistent 18 MPG with mixed driving. 19.5 when it is mostly highway going 70 mph. So far VERY happy. My 97 expy with 5.4 was in the 13-14 range. Eve my 04 STX 4x4 was only around 16 with the weak sauce 4.6L Love this new engine!

These threads always end up pretty useless. Hardly anybody gives all the info: gears, 4x4 wheelbase, etc. There has to be a better format for this.

At 65 mph will improve your mpg by 1.5

I drove 125 miles last night after filling up. Most of it was about 68 mph, but went thru some small towns, some interstate. Averaged 21 mpg. That will go down though as the next few days will be in town.

12850 miles on 2011 avg mpg 15.0

this includes 3500 miles towing travel trailer, about 250 high altitude 4X4 lo range the rest is split between city and highway. Best is made on interstate using cruise control.

with 35,000 miles on my 4x4 off-road XLT super cab I was getting a consistant 15.5 all around out of my 5.0. I think I have some taller gears that came with the tow and off-road package...might be 3:55 or 3:73 cant remember.. truck turns about 1700 rpms at 70 mph. has the 275-65 18s on for kicks. I just took a trip 813 miles each way ...I was getting at BEST 19.5 mpg trying to average about 70 mph the whole trip. I was trying to get good mileage while I was going 72-75 mph....so I tried not to let the engine downshift to pass. but once I hit the great smoky mountains my mileage dropped to 18.4 mpg.

I don't know how you guys are getting more than 20 mpg!!! unless you have some super low gears and small tires.

bob I got a crew cab 4x4 with 3;55's out back and short box that I get a steady 21/22 driving 70 mph. and I carrie a tool box full of crap (about 200LBS) and under my back seat is full of junk (guns 200 rounds or so ammo, rods reals tackle box) that should or could affect the MPG but it don't. every one I know says I drive like a young kid always on it off the line and never cost up to lights, think its some trucks just settal down faster and get in a grove that's good for MPG. I think it all has to do with the way I broke her in!
WOT and let the motor slow her down for the first 200 miles, plus I don't burn oil like some say they do

I am pretty sure now I have the 3:73 electronic locking differential. that maybe why I am slightly under most guys highways gas mileage.

and I have use donly full synthetic since I bought the truck new...

I have a fiberglass cap on my truck as well...I wonder if that makes a difference it is not a raised one that is higher than the cab

Got 10k miles on it now. 2013 FX2

Getting a solid 18 mpg at 75 mph. FL driving on flat roads with AC running.

5.0/3.73

FWIW 45-60 mph easily yields 20+ mpg.

Did some towing with my 2011 5.0 SCAB 4x4 with the 3.55 gears. Hooked up to a 6x12 Uhaul trailer and drove out to pick move my mother-in-law. It was cheaper (even with extra gas) to pick up and drop off in the same place so the first 600 or so miles were empty and the rest was about 75% full with fairly light household goods. I filled up just prior to leaving, drove with tow mode on and at around 70-75 mph.

Distance to fill - mpg
265 miles - 13.87 mpg
369 miles - 12.49 mpg
228 miles - 13.58 mpg
253 miles - 11.80 mpg
221 miles - 11.91 mpg
