Go find your picture, place the mouse pointer on it, right click, selexct "properties", a box opens. Look at "Address" .... you should see a line that starts with
"http://" .... and ends with ".jpg" . Works with ".gif" images as well.

Highlight that address, copy it, then past it here between the two IMG boxes either by adding them or simply clicking on the mountain thing and pasting the address in the box that opens.

I just saw your photos in your album....I thought you had chrome wheels, so axe everything I posted earlier. With you having the cast aluminum wheels, it's a different deal....and yes, they do look kind of jacked up.

Good luck!

Appreciate the help, but for some reason in my posting rules, it says that I "may not post attachments". Don't know why, possibly I have to have X # of posts before that it activated? Unfortunately, viewers have to go to the photo album on the site that I made.

Do your rims resemble these? I wash my truck two to three times a week and my rims are progressively getting worse. I'll wait for spring and see if they will clean up. with only 7,000 miles on the clock I think the rims may have a problem.

Looks exactly like that. I'll be showing them to the dealer this afternoon and hoping for the best. After 5 months, rims looking like that is simply unacceptable.

Mine have the same pattern, but not nearly as bad. I only noticed it on maybe one of my wheels, but I just figured it was because we've had so much chemical laid down on the roads this winter. I've washed my truck after every storm, but I waited 2 weeks after the last one before doing anything and I thought I waited too long. Well, one more thing for my dealer to hate me for.

Where is the seam you are referring to?

Shortride, check out IDiesel's picture. I guess I was off when I described it as the seam; it's essentially the front face of the wheel. His picture is identical to mine and represents the problem pretty effectively.

Well onto the answer, I did go to the dealer this afternoon and to my pleasure, they agreed completely with me; for a 5 month old truck this is essentially not acceptable. To my complete satisfaction, they are replacing all four wheels, as under real close inspection, all the wheels are doing it. By next week I should have four new wheels. I tried to see if I could get the 2011 FX4 wheels (in jest) but they didn't seem to get the joke. All in all, I'm pleased to have the wheels that I bought when the truck was new.

Apparent cause was that the clear coat on the rim was not adequate enough and the de-icers and salt of the NE Ohio winters just ate them up. With this in mind, if you live in areas where the winters are rough and you have the 6 spoke cast-aluminum wheels, an inspection might be worthwhile.

I just washed mine and have the same thing. I noticed it a few months ago but just thought it was tar or something i couldnt get off at first. I think il wait till after winter is over to take them in to see.

Probably not a bad idea as I'm sure that you and I have at least another two months of this. I just wanted to make sure that it will be resolved. Sounds like this is going to be a pretty common problem, two guys that I work with (a Lariat and a King Ranch) both have the same problem. Assume that its just a climate/region problem.

Thanks for the update cliff hanger, It's refreshing to see you will be taken care of. Now we need one of those fellas from the detail section to chime in with a recommended preventative product we can use on our rims to stop this madness.

Well, I got my new wheels installed today. The install was fine, but they had some trouble balancing one of them. Turns out that one of my tires must have had a belt seperate and they had to replace the tire. They installed the new tire on the right rear, assumedly because that is the main drive tire(?). I'm pretty pleased, a new tire at no cost. All in all, I'm very pleased with the dealer and Ford. Four new wheels and a new tire, all covered under warranty and at 9500 miles.

The only bad side to the story is that the wheels have already got crud all over them from today's storm. Hopefully these will be better able to handle the road salt with a thicker layer of clearcoat.

Correct - attachment posting is not allowed on these forums. Reread the instructions that were posted.
