Big Discounts on 2011s?

Sitting here on the couch checking my e-mail and I see a commercial for one of the local Ford dealers and they are offering $12,000 off 2011 XLT Supercrews. This is surprising since the 2011s just started hitting dealer lots in the last couple of months. That is even more than what I got off my 2010 model in August. If it weren't for the fact that I'd get crap for trade-in on my 2010, I'd be tempted to trade up to a 2011 model to get the 5.0 and select shift transmission. Dang it!

Just curious what folks are seeing around the country on 2011s. This was in Austin, TX.

Look closely at the ad and make sure the discount is not on a demo model. I fell for that bait & switch once.

I saw a similar ad on TV a couple days ago here in Utah. If you read the small print on the ad it usually says that the discount only applies to a specific vehicle in their inventory...usually a base package truck that nobody wants!! They get you in the door with the ad and then try to up-sale you to another truck when you realize the one in the ad has no carpet and an 8-track tape player...

Those huge discounts are usually many smaller ones that you have to qualify for individually. So, yes, in a perfect world and when all the stars align there might be someone sho could get all the discounts available. More than likely when you check into it you will only get a small portion of them.

I almost fell for one going on here. The salesman who called said they were offering 10k off any F-150 on the lot and said the one I was looking for qualified. I had to ask if they had one on the lot with the options I wanted, he at first answered with a resounding yes. Until I asked again with more than a little incredulity in my voice. He went out and checked and no they didn't have the one I wanted. He said there was an ad in the Sunday paper. I found the ad and it was limited to any Lariat in stock and the discount included the Ford incentives. So the stealership was really only offer 5-6k off the rest were all of the incentives (including military and college student). Still not a bad price, but more than what I wanted to pay for a truck that didn't have the options I wanted.

No fine print on the ad other than "see dealer for details." I suspect this discount includes all factory rebates and incentives including Ford Motor Credit rebate which would not be available to a cash buyer or those wishing to use their own financing. You can always finance with Ford and then pay it off or re-fi.

I saw another commercial for a different dealer (happened to be the one I bought my truck from) that was giving $7500 off 2011 XLT Supercrews. That is a big difference, though my dealer ended up matching an ad another dealer had in the paper for the 2010 models.

Yeah they say all F150's are on sale but once you get there its only the platinums and king ranch's. Typical bait trick. But if you give em hell, they can and will sell ANY truck on the lot for atleast 10,000 off.

Without any negotiating you can get around $4000 off for x plan, $1500 incentives, $1000 credit if you finance, $750 coupon from a brochure request, $1000 trade-in assistance. So around $8250 total off now.

And another $1000 off if you have an auto show in your area.

It all depends where you live. I bought a year end 2010 Screw and was able to get over $10,500 which include my Xplan. You won't do better than that WITH an XPlan. There was $6500 in rebates for the 2010s, for the 2011's only $2500 and no, there was no $1000 trade assistance for a 2011. So for a 2011 with an XPlan, the best I could do was $6500 off of MSRP. Without an XPlan, you can probably get a deal where you pay $500 to $1000 more depending on how good you are at negiotation and if you don't allow them to make up the difference on your trade. The XPlan is great because it's a set price and then you negotiate on your trade in price.

My dealer ordered my new 2011 F-150 XLT for $99 over invoice and didn't even take my credit card. I'll get whatever incentives are available at the time and right now that is a total of $3,500. So with an MSRP of around $38k, my initial cost will be around 35k and with rebates around $31.5. I am thrilled with that deal on a brand new F-150. I really like my dealer and would rather pay a bit more for the service I am getting.

If you plan on buying now, go to Ford's website and request a brochure by mail. You will receive a $750.00 off coupon. This is a Ford rebate so dealers love it since it doesn't cost them a penny.
