2011 Axle Upgrade Option?

2011 Axle Upgrade Option?

When comparing XLT and FX4 models on Fords website under Power/Handling - Handling there is an option for Axle Upgrade (Optional) what is this axle upgrade???

Gear ratios and LS/e-locker. The housing is the same. However, it is rumored the Ecoboost trucks has stronger internals to deal with the torque.

If any would have it, it would be the 6.2. More torque than the EB. And I do not think any do. The 9.75 is sufficient to handle anything these engines put out.

During the teardown live chat, the engineer did say the EB had a stronger rear axel.

Stronger pinnion & bearings...

axle "upgreade in order guide refers to stepper gears.

3.55 to 3.73 is called an "upgrade".

F250's have a 10.5" sterling, it looks the same as a 9.75" sterling but it is all different.

from what i understand the vehicles that come equipped with the 6.2L (including the raptor) get the "mexican service" axle. its the same 9.75, just with thicker axle tubes, and obviously the raptor is 6" wider
