Snow/Ice Chains
Tire Pressure Indicator
I purchased a 2010 F150 and the sales rep stated that i could not use tire chains on the truck, when asked why he stated that it would effect the Tire Pressure Sensor system.
He seemed a little hesitant when he responded so i am not sure of the vilidity, has anyone else been given the same response.

When I started with the state police in 78, we used V-bar reinforced HD chains when needed. You got them through supply. They worked great but traction was so greaty that sometimes if spun, the chain would twist and straighten out the hook end where it attached to the side chain and tear up stuff. Seen guys have a rear door handle ripped off tghe door by loose chains as they spun. Some guys didn't know to avoid wheel spin with chains. I was lucky, never in my years did I have chain damage, though I did have some twist loose. I just stopped and cut or puklled that link off or tied it tio the side chain until I could get it fixed.
Last few years with CVPIs we used Class S cable chains. Big snow storm got us good Dec 2009, I worked 45 hours in 3 days of that storm. Put several hundred miles on one set of Class S Cable chains, and they still have life in them. I would not hesitate to use them, they work better than you think. They also will likely do far less damage if they fail while moving. And far easier to put on / take off than the old stye.

In Canada I run Bridgestone Blizzaks...........try them. It is shocking how well they stick!
I can easily take off from a red light in 2wd much faster than other trucks in 4wd with all terrain tires.
Nothing like a good snow tire!

It's that time of year again. Reading the manual for my 2011 F150 it says no chains allowed on numerous tire sizes for 17,18,20 and 22" rims including my 275/65/18's. So what do I do? When there is an ice storm or a drive over the mountain passes I hate to just rely on tires. 4wd only helps with the accelerating...
Anyone use chains or cables on the 275/65 tires? Thanks
