I have only run 1 complete tank through so far, but I got 20.6 mpg.

2011 F-150 XLT Reg Cab, 5.0, 4x2, 3.31 rear, short bed

Right now, I show 18.6 mpg on the computer, which seems to be pretty accurate. It was only off by 1/10th mpg vs. the ol'fashion calculation at the pump.

I drive a hundred miles a day on my work commute, take the same route and drive the same speed's. 17.4 mpg since I filled up yesterday morning. This is mixed driving 30 miles highway with 55 and 65 mph limit's and the rest PITA traffic light's. I use 87 Shell E-10 and have almost 6k miles in 3 month's since new. With the stock Pirelli's I was getting a little over 1 mpg more. Look at my sig for specs on my truck.

I have a Screw with 3.73 gears.

I average 16-18 in mix driving.

Highway varies quite a bit. A flat highway at 65mph and I can get 21-22. Add hills in there and it's 19-20. Bump the speed up to 75mph and we're talking about 16-17.

From PA to the Keys (1400 miles each way), we averaged about 16.8mpg. But, this is averaging 80mph with 4 people and a bed full of stuff.

Here are the numbers from my 2011 Platinum 4x4 Screw 5.0 3.55. The 18's & 20 are mostly highway. The 20 is from a trip where I drafted a J.B. Hunt truck from Valpo, IN to Fort Wayne, IN on Rt. 30.

Begin Miles End Miles Gals. MPG
0.00 452.50 31.25 14.48
452.50 990.30 33.40 16.10
990.30 1255.10 17.32 15.29
1255.10 1574.80 16.96 18.86
1574.80 1822.20 13.15 18.82
1822.20 2192.70 19.74 18.77

Here's my latest MPG for my 11 FX4. The last couple of data points are higher only because they were all highway miles with cruise control set around 70.

svt2205,

Nice presentation. It will be interesting to see your graph over time. I see a dip in the winter when we get winter blend fuel and I have my snow tires on. We must be out of the winter blend fuel about the first of May as my '08 5.4 bumped back up into the low to mid 18's again.

Charts and graphs, being an engineer I live and breath this crap. But enjoy putting these together with the truck and all. A little info on my truck, it was purchased new mid March and is driven country highway. And I'm pretty confident my mileage is based on summer blend. I know the dip your talking about, I should post the chart that covers all of the fuel mpg I saw with my 07.

More to come with more miles.

2011 F150 XLT SuperCab 4x4 5.0 3.73

On an 825 mile trip (2,200 start, 3,000 end on ODO) got 20.1 mpg average... Roughly 700 miles of highway, 125miles of city.

Instantaneous peaked around 24-24.4mpg when going 60mph for a solid hour. Was following a pickup and trailer at that time, maybe 30 yds back. Not sure if was even close enough for any aero effect, but was impressed. Can only get better as the miles add up on the ODO.

I am on my second tank 2011 XLT xcab 4wd 3.73's. 80% highway 70mph cruising avg. 80% A/C on with hills in Missouri. 18mpg so far. That is 2 mpg better than my 2010 FX4 5.4L does and the 5L seems much peppier.

nice MPG's fellas. I can't break 15mpg combined (50/50) nothing over 70 mph, except for a few blast. Lie-O-meter says 15.5, but once I hand calc it's 14.7. Supposedly there is a 1,000 mile break-in tune from factory?? we'll see. I have the EB, was just peeking in on how the 5.0 is doing.

You picked the wrong engine

5.0 is the sleeper success

I'd maybe consider the 5.0 as a daily driver with those mpg numbers if you could get the max payload and max tow, but that's not possible. Plus, I still have to think the 5.0 would be a pig pulling 7,000 pounds of trailer.
