aftermarket lights fogging up?
aftermarket lights fogging up?
my new aftermarket head and tail lights are fogged up? its been raining and freezing, constantly changing temp from 35 to 15% in central IL. so idk if its common. the tails are back to normal but the headlights are always fogged by the turn signals? WTF just spent 600$ for them
I had the exact same problem with mine! i decided to take them off, and will be using them to do a HID retro fit into them. since they already sperated the high and low beam into to bulbs, i only have to get a single HID kit, and not worry about the high beam.
These are the ones im refering to that sucked for me...

Those light do look pretty good. Over the years I have noticed you cant beat OEM quality in terms of all parts. Most people think since they are aftermarket they are of the same quality as OEM. This is why I just purchased the HD heads and tails for my truck. I hope you can get them sealed up and dont have any moisture problems in the future.
When I was using them....the lightout put seemed to be more then the stock units. I really did like the look and functionality of them. The only issue was the mouisture build up in them. Then when I actually decided to take them off, I realized where the moisture was coming from...there was almost an inch of water inside the bottom of them. I drilled a small hole at the bottom and drained them. Now im just going to open them, and retro fit them, and delete the halos and add LED strip lighting instead like the Audi's
Wow, you got taken bad.
yes those are the lights i got from sabersport. 08STX if you could read i said i paid 600 for head and tail lights. if they where not supposed to fog, than its kind of weird that both of them started to fog up at the same time. its also weird that they both have the same problem. and yes they came with directions that said they would fog up in some weather conditions and when you start the truck and it warms up, and you turn on the head lights within 10 min the fog goes away but the fog is frozen in the lights so im screwed.
It's really a common sense fix.
Take the lights off the truck. Get a couple of those silica packets, tie a string to each one and drop them in one of the light holes on each light. Next day clean them up really well and reseal along the seam. Wait for the sealant to dry and reinstall.
No more fog.
Honestly I have just as many problems with quality with my stock lights. It's not just an aftermarket thing anymore.
