2009+ HID (low beam only) and Fog (bambi mod)

If you search "bambi" in these forums you get 2 threads. One is useless and the other is 6 pages of complaining.

I needed to bambi mod my 08 in order to install my low beam only h13 hid kit and run foglights.

if i didnt, the highbeam indicator would illuminate dimly and the fogs wouldnt work....

so do i not need to do this on my 2010? or how do i ground it or whatever?

thanks in advance

It sounds like when you tried to wire up your harness you had the low beam and high beam prongs backwards, thus illuminating the high beam signal and preventing the fogs from working. Double check your connections.

On another note, please look into retrofitting projectors if you plan to use High Intensity lighting.

IMHO the Smart Junction Box makes the Bambi mod a major PITA (haven't read a successful thread yet).

Not saying it's not possible; just sayin' that you need to get a shop manual and start digging through the electrical diagrams.

there is a simplier way to do this espacially if you are running hid fogs, use a premade hid wire harness, and then extend the the switchable wires from the relay into the cab, pull the pins out of the factory head/fog light switch i will have to look at mine and see what pins controll the foglights, tap into the factory switch, and now your fogs run directly to the switch instead of switch , cjb, fog light harness.

have any 09+ members installed low beam only HIDs?

if so, did you have the high beam indicator illuminate dim (like what would happen in 04-08 models) ???

so you want low beam only hids? and not the high/low i dont see you haveing any problems at all as long as you dont turn the high beam on...and in your case you would get nothing by turning the high beam on.

Correct, flicking it forward would shut off the lights. Bi-xenon drop ins are plain useless. Whoever devised the idea doesn't know the first thing about dual-filament optics

Can anyone else confirm that u can run low beam only HIDs in 09+ F150s without problems (unlike 04-08)?

Cuz I don't want to go thru the install and not have fogs again (like I did on my 08)

to tell you the honest truth man, the new headlight housings absoutly work awesome for the bi-hid setup!, its a true low beam and a true high beam the light actually has a cutoff and does NOT scatter light at all like the 04-08 housings, i would go over to ddmtuning.com, order up some 4500k or 5000k 55w high/lo light setups.
