Lightbulb 2004 XLT 17" Wheels on my 2010

My folks still have my factory wheels and tires from my 2004 XLT 4wd. I am thinking about taking the wheels and putting more aggressive tires on them and running them December-March for winter to keep all the crap off the chrome 18's that came with my 2010. I am not thinking fitment will be an issue, anyone see any issues with this? Gives me a legitimate excuse to get the bilsteins sooner too.

Before you run out and buy tires, pull off a front wheel and make sure that one of your old wheels will clear the calipers...Ford changed the design in 2010. Tighten down three or four lug nuts and make sure the wheel rotates freely w/o rubbing. You'll know right away if there's not enough clearance.

I am using a set of 2004 17" XLT wheels for my winter tires on my 09. There were some problems with using older than the 09 wheels on 09 up, but that was with 18" FX4 wheels. If you do not want to live with the TPMS light, you will need another set of the valve stem sensors for the new wheels. That and retrain winter and spring when you swap.

See TASCAPARTS in the electronic section of their online catalog for sensors. If you order the sensor, it does come with a valve stem for the sensor.

There is a section on retraining the TPMS in the owners manual. For the 10, it is different than for the 09. However I would hope you can use the training tool on the 10 also. A bit easier than the procedure used for the 10 model. Look up Tire pressure monitor in you owners manual.
