How bad really is the "FORD" drop in bedliner??

I need them to install it as it's 15 degrees out and I have no where to do it myself.

I really like the factory (any makers) drop in liners as they usually are really thick, tuff, and have the cargo tier slots that follow the bed side walls. I don't want scuff damage to the bare metal though. Even though with the paint and steel now a days, where's rust is almost none existant, I just don't want paint damage and the 'possibility' of rust that I won't be able to see. I won't be worrying about it flying out because factories and dealership usually bolt on the tie down anchor over it instead of cutting holes for access.

So should I just not even think about the Ford Factory Liner for my 2010 F150 and just try to find someone with reasonable hours to install the Bedrug Bedtred Liner???

BTW, I really want the liner for dent protection as much as scratch protection. I load firewood a lot durring the none winter months and have already had a full bed of firewood in it's first week of ownership. Thanks to a tarp and some careful handing, I didn't put a scratch on it but I don't want to have to worry.

Ok I was in a similar situation as you. My recommendation is the Bed Rug, I have it and love it. Actually it's so nice I put down plastic when I dumped the christmas tree in it (I know rediculous!!!).

Anyway it was cold and snowing when I ordered mine. I happened to be having my windows tinted when I installed it. I figured since the truck would be in a garage at the window shop (mine garage is too small) than I could install it while they worked on the windows.

Problem was that the body was too cold in most places to have the velcro stick to the paint. BUT the nice thing is you can just drop it in and the sides get placed under the rails and it attaches to the tailgate with a zipper and factory screws so I would forget about putting on the velcro until spring when it's warmer. If you use it for light duty carrying and have a tonneau cover like I do it will be fine just laid in for a couple of months.

If you have a small heat gun or hair dryer, maybe warm up the metal by the cab and on each side by the tailgate (where the lights are) so you can attach a minimum amount of velcro holders. I'd forget about the ones along the wheel wells for now.

Do you have to cut holes in the Bed Rug for the tie down hooks and the Bed Extender mounting holes?

I'm in the same situation-Nearest Line-X installer is 2 hours away.

Yes but again I waited for a warmer day to do it. I just used a scratch awl to poke through where the screws were then reattached.

The dealer where I got my screw had a drop in liner in the truck and I had them take it out for a rebate which I applied to the price of a Rhino spray job.
IMO you would be well served to take the 2.5 hour drive to get your bed sprayed, I drove 1.5 hoursone way.
I also put a Ford Bed liner over the Rhino, it looks like the trunk of a car now.

That is the same as a Bedrug, just made with Ford logo. Very nice.

Well I finally found a place that does Saturday Installs. So now I'm down to the decision between the Bed Rug or the Bed Tred. The Bed Tred won't stain even if oil is left on it (assuming), and it has the cargo tiering slots in the side panels where the bedrug does not. I also like that the tailgate protector is separate if the tailgate ever needs to come off. On the flipside, the Bed Tred is unproven while the Bedrug seems to be the 2nd favorite liner next to Line-X. I may just get the Bedrug.

The shop also sells and Installs the Extang Express Tonneau cover I want. After reading reviews, it's the most watertight soft cover I could find. I'd get the Undercover but it looks to hard to take off by myself, without damaging the bed rails or the cover. The shop does not recommend taking it off by myself as they said damage could occur. They said it's definitely a 2 person job just because it's so awkward in handling.

So probably the Bedrug and Express cover but maybe the Bed Tred.

I have a drop in. Aside from the fact that things slide around more than the spray-on, I haven't found anything to complain about. Truck is not quite 2 yrs old and there isn't any damage under it (yet).

I would look for a folding tonneau. Especially since you live in a cold weather climate. Makes opening and closing a piece of cake. I opened the bed in 15* weather and it was perfect (something I would never do with my old snap tonneau).

I put a BedRug in my 2005 F150. Never will use one again. Could not keep it clean, everything 'stuck' to the carpet. Once wet the carpet took forever to dry out. If I put any cardboard of paper items in the bed the wet rug soaked the boxes. I have a drop-in in my 94 and it has rub some of the ppaint off, but there is no corrosion caused holes, light surface rust. In the future I'll go with the Line-X especially if thay can colorize the material.

I had pine needles in the back of my truck the other day from our christmas tree, they swept out no problem, for the edges a vacumn works great. I've also had fire wood, mulch, dirt, rocks, sand etc. that sweep and vacuum out, just keep velcro away from the carpet lol. Can't comment on the water though, I have a bakflip, but the minimal amount of water that does get in near the tailgate usually dries in a couple days. To save a little time I would put a tarp down if available though, but not necessary. But what I like the most is the bedrug won't scratch things such as furniture and appliances some bedliners can. Its also really comfortable to lay or sit on if you use it for that, which I do on the beach. If I had a work truck that didn't see groceries, furniture, or my knees for that matter I would go with linex.

I had Line-X on my old truck and loved it.. I now have a factory drop in on my new truck and hate it (came with the truck)... I will be removing the drop in and getting Line-X sprayed very soon!

That's my setup. Bedrug plus Extang Express tonneau cover. It's a good combination. I thought about line-x, but went with the bedrug because I can take it out and either reuse it or sell it if anything happens to my current truck. Before the bedrug, I always had plastic drop-ins and never had any problems with them either. FWIW, I really like the bedrug. It's easy to clean, too. Good luck whichever way you go.

I have had more than one 2000 pound pallet of landscape rocks loaded in my 2003 Screw with plastic bedliner. I have had over 2500 pounds of dirt and sand with no problems either.
