You guys that think the interior is cheap in these trucks need to just sit there and drink your tea and eat your crumpets and leave these trucks for us psudo-wood wantin', faux leather lovin', plasi-chrome cravin' men.

I concur on the blonde wood. Otherwise happy in every way with my '11.

I also concur on the Tundra. As sweet as that motor is, the trucked wrapped around it just feels like a cheap toy.

I agree that the blond wood looks terrible - there's no way I will own a truck with that 'wood' look in it.

I need to do a little research, but I've got my fingers crossed that I can get a Lariat with the black interior that has the carbon fiber looking bezels. If not, I'll be shopping for FX2/FX4 dash parts to replace that atrocious blond crap that some yuppie thought would look good in a Ford truck.

EDIT: I checked Ford's build site and it looks like the black interior option for the Lariat does indeed include the blond wood. The nice part is that Ford finally got smart and made the Lariat dash bezel the same as the FX bezles (in the past, the FX had three buttons up top while the Lariat had 6, making them non-interchangeable). And, of course, the FX2 is not available in the exterior color I want, so I can't buy an FX2 and option it out to near-Lariat quality. So it looks like I'll be buying a Lariat and replacing interior plastics with FX2 plastics. Joy.

I thought the OP was slightly picky about his observations, but hey, it's a free country. My 05 Lariat is my best yet too. I have owned a 2000 XLT 4x4S/C (totaled) a 2002 FX4 S/C and the 05 4x4 Lariat S/C. Everyone of the comments from strangers, friends and family are all very positive on the interior of this truck. I have a few coworkers with the new rams and yotas. I don't give them any real grief about them (their money) but they'll never see my money.

I was curious because our 5.0 '10 and '11 Land Rover products some of them have "resonators" which pick up certain range of engine noises, and allows them to pass through, and block out the other noises, so you get a nice engine sound without hearing everything, and pretty much only hear it on acceleration.

You will be replacing the wood yourself. The carbon fiber is only available in the FX2/FX4. The Lariat the bonde wood. The King Ranch the reddish color to match the existing 2010 wood color. The Platinum is the black wood grain. The Harley, I think is shiny black. Sorry to disappoint. I'm hopeful the blonde grows on me, or it is an expensive upgrade to go to the King Ranch or Platinum.

When you find out how much $$$ it is, let me know. That would be one of the many things I'd have to do to a Lariat if I go with a 6.2L.

I think a lot of you guys would like the Silver/carbon Fiber look of the Raptor dash accents. I like the FX4, Platinum and Raptor ones. (non orange of course). I think those with the Black interiors on a Lariat should check out the Silver from the Raptor. I'll try to post some pics when I get home later from my 2011.

Dash panels are not the problem for replacement--it is figuring out what you are going to do with the door panels. They are not seperate pieces, the whole door panel has to be replaced. The colored pieces in the door can be removed- they are just plastic welded in,basically a fancy glue gun. If places like Phoniex Imaging are still around they can be matched with Hydro graphics to the new Oe pattern of you choice. Another Option is somewhere on the site there is a guy that removed all his panels on his Platinum, and had them painted Black,as I recall it looked pretty good.

So, it's all one piece and can't be replaced, yet they are separate pieces?

Either way, it's not something I'm going to worry about until a truck is sitting in my driveway, so I'll report my findings at that time.

I was dangerously close to pulling the trigger on an '09 and then again on a '10 model and both of them had terrible wood grain with the black interior. At that time, I got quotes from 4 different hydro imaging companies based on quick guestimates of the panel sizes. Only time will tell which is the cheaper remedy - but I still can't believe someone at Ford thinks those two colors (black leather and creamy blonde wood pattern) work together. Simply hideous.

I am about to order a 2011 with the EcoBoost. After looking at all the trim levels, I really like the Lariat, except for the blonde wood. So I've been reading these posts to learn about the possibility of switching out the trim, probably to the FX4 or Raptor look. Has anyone actually done this, or have any idea how much it would cost?

I've had a 2011 for two weeks now. The interior was a major selling point. Pedals are adjustable, wheel is telescoping.

I bought a Raptor though (black interior), which has a completely different wheel and absolutely no wood. I still think the FX4 has the best looking interior though. Have never cared for wood in vehicles unless it's real and well done.

In my opinion, go look at an FX4. The only nice-to-have option I've found that's missing compared to the Lariat is the cooled seats. Then again I like the monochromatic look.
