Chevy Man getting 2011 F150
Chevy Man getting 2011 F150 - Updated 1/22
Hello guys. I'm currently on my 3rd Chevy truck (all have been excellent) but I've gotta admit the 2011 F150 just blows away the 2011 Silverado in all the categories important to me, especially for the $$.
I drove a FX4 SCREW 5.0 and that is one helluva engine, sounded excellent, strong power throughout the band, but that is one huge truck. It makes my Chevy (1998) feel like a compact.
Look forward to following the discussions and contributing where I can. This truck is likely to be a custom order, just waiting for some better incentives to roll down the pipeline. Looking to spend $35-38k for a fully loaded 2011 FX4SCREW. Anyone think I am out of my mind?
UPDATED:
I ordered my truck today. It's a 2011 FX4 candy red, all options, nav. The dealer agreed to invoice - rebates, so looking at 37.5. I couldn't be happier, and here's the hoping the rebates go up before I take delivery around the first of March.

I'm betting incentives won't roll around till later this year or possibly when the ecoboost comes out they will throw something out for the 5.0's, who knows..
I'm looking to buy this November/December, so hopefully by then they have something going on; even though I'll likely just A-plan mine. I'm just waiting so I can get a bit more out of my current truck, I'd like to run it to at least 100k.

I'm hoping they offer a good incentive on the ecoboost when they launch it to garner interest--from everything I have researched this will be my engine of choice.
btw, I am also a current gm truck driver. Nothing wrong with the truck (duramax) just more than I need and I am ready for something new.

I have always been a GM guy and still am, but I drive a 2010 F150. As much as I wanted to purchase a GM Truck, it really just does no stack up against the F150. My service from the local Ford dealer is far better than anything I had expericenced with GM. Next time I need a truck I'll look at all of them again, winner gets my business.

While watching football today I saw commercials for GM & Dodge offering $7000 & $6500 off of new 2011 trucks. I don't think it will be long until Ford is forced to offer more incentives to remain competitive.
Thanks for the welcome, guys. it's nice to see there are objective opinions on here. I believe each make has it's strengths, and as much as I want a GM, dollar for dollar the 2011 5.0 is the right truck for the money (for me).
If we were having the discussion about the 5.4, I'd be leaning to GM. The latest iteration of the 5.4 is pretty stout and longevity has never been an issue on any of the Ford modular motors. I do remember the early struggles with power from the 5.4, and how all the way through 2007 GM would magically get another 5-10 HP from the 5.3 each year. I suspect the 5.0 is another great sleeper engine, and I don't want to wait to see what GM does this year regarding the rumored 5.5 V8 coming to the FSC.

I've owned new and used Chevy/GMC, Nissan and Ford trucks. I have test driven a new and used Dodge Hemi and a new 5.3L Chevy and was not impressed. Ford is the best of the lot for all around service and reliability. They all have their issues at times but Ford does come out on top.
The new Ford powertrain's are a step above the rest as far as I'm concerned. I am enjoying my four day old 2011 Race Red STX Super Cab with the 5.0 engine.

i left GM for ford. i had 3 diff trucks, 98 silvy reg cab with the 5.7 vortech, 06 sierra ext cab with the 5.3, and 09 silvy reg cab with the 4.3. i hated the 09 so much i only had it for 3 months before i traded it in on the best truck i have ever owned, my 10 FX2!!!
welcome to the ford side of things!!!

If gas hits $4 a gallon by April, you'll get incentives. Seems like such a shame that the auto industry, especially the truck market, is one of the few things in the economy that has stabilized and started to grow again only to have politics screw it up again....
But welcome to the site, hope everything goes well on your purchase. You will love the the Fx F-150's. Everytime I hop in my 2007 Fx2 I smile and I purchased the truck back in 08.
LateKinghtRides - Where I live in Canada when you order a truck you get the current incentives, however, "IF" they improve before delivery then you can take advantage of them. I bought mine of the lot however many of my friends/family have had the good fortune of taking advantage of even better deals that have come along during the long 8-10 week wait!
OP - Good luck and enjoy
