The EPA ratings changed 2007->2008. 2010 5.4L 4WD is 14mpg/18mpg city/highway.

Looks like it is 16/22 for a 2wd screw.

Sorry if the link doesn't work. I am not quite sure how to hyperlink on this site. Maybe someone can fix this for me if it is not working.

No wonder Ford is being very quiet on this, it's not a clear winner over the competition. However, I do not doubt that the real world gas mileage may be better than EPA for some owners. The EPA tests still aren't really real world.

I just finished my Ecoboost drive where they come to your work. I drove a FX4 Scab. It would be a clear winner over the competition if it was rated at 18 MPG. The 4x4 rated at 21 makes it not even be a race.

Man if that is a real window sticker, it is very disappointing. I'll be going with a 5.0l.

Ford put a lot of hype in the engine. I would have expected 23 at the minimum. At 22 mpg the repayment time frame is too long and taking a risk with a new truck engine isn't worth it to me. I don't need to tow 11k lbs and the 5.0 will do me just fine. It will take almost the entire time I own the truck to get repayment of the cost of the 3.5l. Add to that the extra maintenance of the more complex engine and future break downs (all things mechanical wear out no matter how well designed) I'll save my $750 and buy the 5.0l. I could have ordered last month, but now I'm hot for a short deployment and will wait several more months.

On a side note I don't know who this Islandcat is nor how reliable his information is, so until I get information from a more familiar source, I'll hold serious decision making off.

I am not reliable because i don't have any inside information.

But that sticker is reliable because the truck is currently sitting in the parking lot of my local ford dealer.

Again, If the link doesn't work my apologies, But the name of the dealership is Lafourche Ford in Lockport LA.

How do you have an Ecoboost truck on the lot at the dealership? The option to build one is not even on Ford's web site. I was at a dealership two days ago looking to buy one and they said mid-Feburary before they would be there.

Here is the link to the window sticker. It does appear on that dealerships website. I think that the dealership has that truck on order but it's not there yet. The date on the bottom of the sticker says today's date.

All that Ford has said was about a 20% improvement in fuel economy and those numbers are there so that's not a valid argument. Now if you don't want to spend the extra money that is up to you. As far as added maintenance, there is none- it's not a diesel with fuel filters, 2 batteries, DEF, etc. Yes, the engine is more complex than the 5.0 but that doesn't mean that it's less reliable. Neither engine has a track record yet. Sure the 5.0 has been out but the engine has been modified for the truck

The sticker is valid.

Yes it works. That information does increase your credibility. Man I was hoping you were full of poop, but you're not. I like the sounds of a V-8 anyway.
