Buying new truck, check engine light came on
An electrical connector came loose from a fuel injector is what I was told. They showed me the exact connector but it was dark so I couldn't see much but I will take a better look in the morning. Supposedly it stopped sending fuel to that particular cylinder. They plugged it back in and everything was good to go.
Made sense to me so I picked it up tonight for an extended drive and will bring back tomorrow after work and if all is well, I will sign the papers. I didn't have that gut feeling like I was getting a runaround so I think I will do the deal.
Thanks for the input.

If it was only driven a few miles (5-10 or less) with the light on, then I would not have much concern... if the truck chaser picked it up at the other dealer say, 100+ miles away and the light was on and the decision was made to go ahead and and bring it anyway because they have a hot sell, then I would likely reconsider. That would be bad decision making on everyones part.
I'd pass on that truck unless they offer you some major piece of mind like money off or they threw in the extended warranty or both.
There will always be that question in the back of youre mind that something could go wrong or they are not telling you the whole story.
Don't trust what they say as they are not looking out for your best interests. They want to sell this truck. Use this is a bargaining chip or just pick out another truck.

I almost bought a fully loaded XLT demo for 15,000 off the sticker. It had 6,000 miles on it though... 6,000 miles of full throttle and people that don't know how to drive it. That's like mr putting 30,000 miles on it myself... I would pass dude. Don't take anything with more than 50 miles on it. You'll get any '10 cheap as dirt this late in the year. Dealers need to make room for '11's that are coming in next month.
It wasn't driven far. They got it from a sister dealership about 25 miles away and I was told it came on a couple of miles from the receiving dealer. I know, salesmen will tell you anything but had I bought from the other dealer, it would have come on after I had signed the papers and was driving home. I had test drove it a week before and the light was not on and I am driving it now with no issues.....but I don't sign the papers until tonight so I still have time for it to happen again and if it does, I will just hand them the keys and go on my way. If it works fine then I will sign my life away.
Check engine light
I had my check engine light come on recently on my 2010. I was at around 4,000 miles. Dealer checked it and it came back as a "phantom" code. That is exactly what the service manager told me. They reset it. Two days later the light came back on. This time the dealer spoke with Ford and they ended up changing the O2 sensors on the truck. It has been around a week now and the light hasn't come back on.
I should have listened to my gut. Now I am having alignment issues. Going back for the third time today. They tried twice Friday and it is still not right. I am about ready to give it back to them.
