Door Chime Kill!!

Hello Guys
This is my first post recently.
I have lurked around here for several years, I will explain more later
Anyways, I had to get rid of the door chime and researched on the web until
I found enough info to give it a try.
I went out in the Northern IL weather this afternoon in a freezing
ice rain to get this done, and it was worth cold hands.
Here is a video of what I did for reference.
I hope it helps all of ya out.
This door chime is by far the worst I have experienced in all of any of my
vehicles, and I am 35 years old.
I will try to answer questions as I can if you have any.
Good luck.
It is great to be able to open the door in silence now!

Nice mod.

I'll be doing that.

But I have to disagree with you on annoying door chime...

The 1992 F150 I had was way worse.

As annoying as the door chime on the 2010 is, the pezzio buzzer on the 92 was awful.

I clipped that wire ASAP

That's probably because you never open your door with the key in the ignition, I don't all that much, so I hardly hear it.

But to the OP, nice job..Curious if it also deactivates the chime if you leave your lights on, which obviously isnt a good thing.

Pretty sure the lights have an auto-shutoff after a short period of time. I think I heard that on here.

In my 07 I disabled the key in ignition dinger, but the light dinger still works. Sadly the dealership repaired the wire while I had some warranty work done without my permission, so who knows if/when I will get around to cutting it again.

Just checking to make sure this will work on a 2010 before I go cutting wires... (not sure if 09 ans 10 will be the same..)

Thanks, Joe

This was done on my 2010.
I would assume it would work on 2009-2011.

Thanks for the support NCTidal.
I appreciate it.

A couple of updates.

I do not notice any real noticable ill affects to doing this mod.
The main difference is the dome light.
It comes on now as soon as the key is turned off.
Kind of annoying at night, but I think I can turn the dome lamps off
with the rotating dial I would assume, I havent tried it.
Still better than the chime.
The wire must go to both circuits that the truck thinks the keys have
been removed from the ignition and turn on the dome lamps as soon
as the truck is turned off.
Someday I may tear into the dash and get rid of the actual piezo on the gauges
but for now, the silence is golden!

My F-150 is nothing compared to the 06 Chevy 1/2 ton at work. The door dinger on that truck is routed through the driver door speaker or at least that is the area where the sound comes from...it so loud!

I don't think I'm going to be cutting any wires in my truck.

I tried this mod on my 2010. It disabled the chime and anti-lockout feature if the key is in the ignition and the vehicle is OFF. If I turned it to ACC the chime and anti-lockout feature came back. If I turned it to ON, only the anti-lockout feature comes back. Does it do the same thing on yours, too, Tshirtguy?
