Platinum? FX2? Getting on the fence.

I have been pretty much convinced to get a 2011 F-150 and initially I thought I was going to go with a Platinum and now the more I look at models & packages, the FX2 seems like a pretty nice alternative especially with the Premium and the Luxury Packages.
No cooled seats, less chrome and no power retractable running boards (not a big deal with a 4X2 that if anything I would lower a little). What else is missing form the FX2?
I guess I might be talking myself into the FX2........ maybe. Any thoughts, opinions?

I love my FX2! Its pretty much an FX4 minus 4wd and a few other options. I know the 11 models look almost the same.

Mainly you're missing the bigger price tag. Go with FX2 and save $$$.

With me, the less chrome, the better. I like the FX trucks.

Cooled seats FTW in Florida! Heck, I want them in Michigan for the 3 useful months. But you can get that in a Lariat.

Really, Ford has a comparison tool on it's web site. Use it. Determine how important the Platinum specific features are worth $$$ to you.

Interesting that a lot of folks like the "monochromatic" look. Maybe it's because I am middle aged, but the very reason I will not be going with the FX2 is that I dislike the black plastic grille...... I think is looks "cheap". All I can see is within a couple of years it fading to a dark gray. My eyes are set on the XLT. I'm certainly not ******* anyone who likes it, but I do find it interesting.

I am middle aged too, and IMO, the chromed plastic grill looks cheap... I want to get rid of the chrome exhaust tip and get it powder coated black. Ah 'tis the diversity of this site that makes it what it is!

The biggest pro I can see for you with the platinum is the cooled seats. In FL that would be nice like it is here in CA. Outside of that, if you like chrome or other glitz, get the Platinum, if chrome really bothers you get the fx2.

I got the lariat loaded because I like the chrome on a truck and wanted all the creature comforts of the platinum but I don't like the overdone look.

Your best bet will be to compare the two trucks in the ordering guides (you can find them online).

As you can see, most of the responses you'll receive simply state "I like the FX2" or "the Platinum is too expensive". No answers to your actual question yet... find the guide and compare them side-by-side. Then you're relying on Ford for your answers, not someone's opinion.

Thanks for all the replies. The cooled seats, I guess would be nice (never have had them and I always have leather) but I don't think it is a deal breaker. From the pictures I have been able to find on the web I actually like the look of the FX2 interior and I think the monochromatic look is growing on me. What ever I get will be black.

TXChris - link for the ordering guides? The Ford "build your own" is a bit weak as I am sure there are additional options that are not shown. I will Google around to see what I can find.

Found link at blue oval news - just need to register.
