My mpg dropped too. I'm now getting low 17 to high 16 mpg ( hand calculated).

Nope, one benefit of living in Niagara Falls is being able to pick and choose where I buy everything.

I buy ALL my gas in NY. It kills me even to put in $5 CDN to get across the bridge when I let my tank get too low.

Assuming a completely empty tank =26 US gal or 98.8 Litres

Currently, gas is $1.10/Litre ($4.18/US Gal) here in Ontario. 5 minutes away in NY, gas is 3.15/gal ($0.83/Litre).

Since the dollar is pretty much at par right now, the calculation is easy. A CDN fillup is $108.68. A US fillup is $81.90. That's a saving of $27 every tank.

While I'm there, I'll buy 18 Miller Lite for $12.99 (around 25.00 in Canada).

That more than pays for my $3.25 bridge toll.

Also, when I buy anything online, I have it shipped to my US Address (a postal box place). That saves me international shipping and brokerage fees.

There are a lot of reasons I like living in Canada. This way, I have the best of both worlds.

In the interest of furthering international relations, here is a site that lists ethanol-free gas stations in both Canada and the USA: http://pure-gas.org/

My winter mileage

Up here in Northern WI my MPG's always drop in the winter. I have been seeing around 17mpg on highway trips and 15-16 combined. Not what I was hoping for as my Tundra was a bit better, but my Ford Lariet is twice the truck my Tundra was!

I nominate SCWatts as International Gas Ambassador.

I'm not sure if you'd want that on a business card

wait what? Gas millage drops in the winter? well that explains a lot. I saw a big mpg loss and thought someone siphoned my tank a lil bit. I just went and bought a locking gas cap Now that i look back it happened right when it got cold. Does this have something to do with cold air being denser then warm air? I feel like an idiot.. this must be a well known fact and i was just left out of the loop somehow lol

It was also probably right at the time when they switched from summer to winter blend gas in your area.

I'm getting 19MPG on the highway and 17MPG in town right now with the colder air and weight I carry (300lbs)..

I also let the truck warm up atleast 2-3 mins before going too.

This is with a 4.6 2V 2wd

Son of a bitch! I literally thought there was something wrong with my truck. Mine also all of a sudden went from 17-17.3 mpgs to 15.3 mpgs. Also my trans has been shifting like ****, like it did before I had both TSB's applied to it. This winter blend if effing with my mojo and I don't like it. Thanks for posting that link for pure gas, there is one listed in my town. Just found my new gas station I guess. Has anyone else noticed their transmissions acting funny also?

I can get better, but that giving it no gas when accelerating and driving like a grandpa..

I might get 10L per 100km..

I in no way believe this guy is getting 8L per 100km on the highway..
I have been getting this since I picked the FX-4 5.4 with 3.73 in September 1, 2010. As I had stated this milage was when the temp was warm, up and until Nov 29th when driving on the highway. I keep it to just around 100 km/h and most times less due to the traffic in the Toronto area. Lately the mileage has gone up to 12L per hundred with a 15L per hundred as overall per tankfull. I use Costco gas, Husky and sometimes Petro Can in the Don Mills area. The PetroCan was running 100% 87 Octane till the winter gas came in a few weeks ago.

I think its interesting my estimate mpg gauge fluctuated between 11.9 and 12mpg like 9 or 10 times on a short 4 mile drive within the city. But I'm happy with 12mpg on a fx4 screw with 6in lift and 35's.

i am just east of the city of buffalo here in ny and so far im holding steady at 16mpg on my 4.6 Scab stx. im running totally stock for the moment. just bought it about a month ago. not quite highway driving but not exactly city either.
my commute involves driving in more rural areas instead of suburbs so i do alot of 50mph for long distances. i also try to ease into my accelerations and coast to alot of stops using minimal braking, throw it in neutral on some of the larger hills around here. i guess it all helps a bit during this time of year when your battling alot of variables.

Update on my winter mileage:

4.96km/L = 11.20mi/us gal = 14.01mi/ imp gal

I'm down another 2.5mi/us gal since my original post and am starting to wonder if there is something else going on here. These numbers suck.

Consistent 17.5 per imperial gallon in Toronto; hand calc. for 2010 Supercab XLT 4.6 3 valve with about 2500 miles on it.

I don't drive it too slow because there's always some snot face in a BMW barkin up your *** around here and I don't need the agro of getting rear ended so I keep it moving.

Added sandbags around 250 lbs yesterday but I don't think it'll make much difference.
