Replacment door speakers with Factory sony/nav

first thing i did when i picked the truck up (2010 Lariat supercrew) was toss the garbage sub in favor of 2 JL 10's

i never got around to touching to door speakers but i happen to have a set of 4 Infinity reference 6x8's from a previous install some people say its worthless to install better speakers in the truck without a signal processor and amp, which i 100% agree this is the correct way to go and this is usually the route i take. my truck has the factory sony/nav. the 2 10's really cleaned up alot of the loose ends of the system in the bass department, but as far as vocals and clarity goes its just not there is it even worth my time to change the door speakers without using an amp( keep in mind i already have the speakers) and the way im looking at it is even if its not Alot better the speakers will already be in the doors waiting for real power! im not looking for it to be louder just better response and more clarity without distortion past 50% volume.

any imput is appriciated and i have searched but no one has any imput on the factory nav/sony combo in a 09+

thanks

It's not worthless. I replaced all of my door speakers with Polk 5x7's with no other changes and there is a noticeable improvement in quality. It's not going to blow the doors off, but the high's sound clearer and the bass is tighter. I say do it.

what is a realistic cost for a better replacement than the stock system....not for uber high end stuff, but something that would pass for good, not great?

well man it really depends what you are looking for and what your truck already has in it and if you want to keep the factory radio look. for me personally i love the look of my lariat with the wood and nav screen. what radio configuration do you have?

i usally put infinity reference series in the doors (80 a pair or less) - these are not a hard hitting bass speaker but rather much clearer vocals and highs, rockford makes decently cheap 6x8 door replacements, as well as polk, boston acoustics cheaper line...then their are companies like focal and the infinity kappa series which can sound amazing but need their own amp to push the power they require and become pricey when dealing with components.

also adding a small 10" sub rf, kicker, and jl make some decent 10's that arent going to break the bank and still make an MAJOR difference over stock.
