You know, the 1-2 shift on my truck doesn't bother me much. I notice it, mostly when the transmission hasn't warmed up, but to me it feels like a nice, firm shift. I think Ford's reaction to this problem is based on people wanting their trucks to shift more like a car. I wonder how many people who are bothered by this have ever driven an old F-250 with C6 tranny and shift kit. That 1-2 shift will make you lose fillings from your teeth.

Just curious, didn't you go to the BFT Roundup at Cowboy's Stadium? Any comments on the way the updated 6 speed shifts?

Yes, I drove three different trucks at the Texas Motor speedway (2 ecoboost and one 5.0). It shifts nice and smooth like a car. I have not driven a current F-150 and felt the 1-2 shift so I can't compare but I used to have a 92 F-150 that every once in awhile would really shift hard

[QUOTE=gregsf150stx;4407799]The dealer told me X plan was 5% over invoice (which isn't a good deal anyway). I dont think I've ever paid more than invoice for a truck.

Even @ invoice, there is an extra 3-4% of "holdbacks" that the dealer gets when the truck is sold.

Haggling and Negotiating all depends on how bad the dealer wants to sell.
End of the month is perfect! Mine was Oct 31. Maybe I lucked out?[/QU

Did the dealer tell you what the x plan price was? X-plan is very close to invoice, can't remember exactly but want to say .2% below, + around $200 for document fees. It is definitely not 5% over.
The problem with haggling, at least in my situation, is when you come to an agreement with sales about the price you then have to deal with the finance department. I am talking about document fees, window etching, etc., whereas with the xplan the price is set.
I hear about the wonderful deals people make, and that is great, but the agreement made with the salesman is only the first step.

Oops, I thought the BFT Roundup was at the stadium. Maybe the one in Houston was at Reliant and I was thinking of it, anyway...I can relate to how the older F-150s shifted. My 91 had the E4OD and the new 6 speed reminds me a lot of the way my old one shifted, other than it having 2 more gears. I am not at all doubting the improvements made to the 2011 models. To the OP, I'd say that you'd have to get a ton of money taken off a 2010 demo to make it worth getting over the 2011 models. I think most dealers know what they are up against with the large numbers of 2010 trucks remaining in their inventory and the more desirable 2011 models just about to hit the lots.

I agree with johndeerfarmer. I owned two 2010 F-150s and absolutley hated the 6 speed trannys. The 2011s we drove at TMS were very smooth and did not exhibit the same issues. It seems as though they either fixed them, or they are better mated to the new engines than the older ones.

That said, to the OP, hell no. If that truck has 4300 miles on it, you should get $15K off, not $8-10K.
The 5.0 is becoming the base V8? Are they getting rid of the 4.6?

The 4.6 is being replaced by the 3.7 V6. The 5.0 replaces the 5.4.

Right, the 5.0 is the base V-8. If you get a Supercrew, it is the base engine, whereas the V-6 is the base for the regular and extended cab. The Ecoboost is an upgrade.

Sorry but you are wrong. The 4.6, 3 valve is replaced by the new 5.0. The 5.4 is replaced by the ecoboost.
Some say the 3.7 replaces the old 4.6 2 valve

The base engine in the Supercrew 2wd is the 3.7.

Call it what you want, but the 3.7 has as much power as the 4.6 3 valve and the 5.0 has more power than the 5.4.

The base engine in the Supercrew 2wd is the 3.7.

This is not what I was told at the F-150 drive event at TMS. The base V-6 is only standard in the regular cab and extended cab.

Looks like this is a change since the order guide was first published. It had the 3.7 in the 4x2 Supercrew, and the point was made by the media that the 2011 F-150 was the only crew cab out there with a V-6. Technically, it still is - the EB.

I just did a build and price, and yes, it forced me to take a 5.0. I wonder why the change?

You can get a 3.7 V6 2wd crewcab. First you have to pick a 5.5 bed. Then when you pick the V6, it will ask you to add 3.55 gears. And XLT or XL only. No crewcab in STX.

My opinion won't please many, but it is my opinion and based on experience with three of them. The 4.6 is underpowered for the heavy Screw. With similiar hp, so will be the 3.7.

This is not what the Ford reps said.
