LED Bulbs instead of replacing entire tail lights, Good or Bad Idea?
Puddlepirate56, thanks for your service!
Now, your 2011 won't have a flasher to replace. Ford removed the flasher in 2009 (I believe) and the computer controls the signal lights. The (really loud) flasher sound that you hear is computer generated to simulate a flasher. People with 2009 and newer trucks have installed LEDs, but I need to search for a thread that addresses the hyperflash issue. Get home safe so you can enjoy the new ride.

There is a lot of "Interior LEDs are direct plug-in" and "no resistor needed" quotes in this thread. In most cases, this is probably true if the vendor is advertising them as direct replacements. One of the main questions would be what voltage the LEDs require. Most single LED chips are not rated for 12 volts. The "direct replacements" are either several LEDs in series or an LED with a resistor prewired to drop the voltage from 12 volts to that required by the LED. There are a number or LED calculator websites that given the LED voltage requirement and wattage, will tell you the best resistor to use, if the LED(s) are not already in a 12 volt configuration. Radio Shack will probably have the resistor needed.
I'm waiting on all of the parts to come in, I just bought a bunch of resistors for my LED project from Mouser Electronics for $0.16 each. www.mouser.com

Thanks juneau76 I will do my best in that dept
I wonder if there is a limit on the number of lights it the computer will handle in the flashing? I know that "Darkshadow" said that flasher can handle up to 6 sets. So I am assuming unless someone from BlueOval can tell us what the computer can handle on this say this Example - front, mirror mount(front and back), Tails, tail gate bar and then add in trailor lights. It would be interesting to add the total load and get a number. I would put the tail gate bar on a separate pig tail that way I can unplug it when I tow and the load is reduced and besides that bar would be hard to see behind the trailer anyway.

Check out this thread I just found. https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...er-relays.html I didn't read it all but it has all the information you should need to know about 09+ and flashers. I guess there are no flasher relays.
