Seats the same?
Seats the same?
I just got me a 2010 XLT Scab and I'm going to change the jump seat out to a console. Here is the question. Are the seats the same between Buckets and 40/20/40? I would think they are,but not a hundred percent sure.
Yes, they are the same. I did this swap and it is almost a direct bolt-in swap, almost. The center jump seat from the 40/20/40 mounts with 4 bolts to a big aluminum mounting plate which is bolted to the floor. The mounting holes for the console are not the same as for the jump seat, but the holes for the console are already drilled, just not tapped and threaded.
What I did was tap some 6 mm threads into the unthreaded holes and uses 6 mm bolts to secure the console. The tap doesn't cut terribly deep threads and this is aluminum, so you have to be mindful when you go to tighten down the bolts not to wrench them down too much. The good thing about this setup is the console fits pretty snug around the base mounting plate, so it doesn't need a lot to hold it in place. The biggest problem I had doing this was working around the bucket seats. You can slide the fore and aft to allow you access to all the mounting holes, but they completely block you from running the tap in from the outside, so you have to tap all the holes from the inside. Since the mounting plate is right on the floor, you don't have much room to swing the tap handles. You will need a tape with a removable handle that allows you to slide it side to side to allow you to turn the tap 360 degrees (think of the handles on a bench vise).
