Fuel mileage question, seems strange.

Who's "worrying" about fuel mileage, I was just making an observation. Did you just climb out of a hole or something?

My numbers are pretty close. Although I have gotten as much as 22 mpg at 65. Stock oil and K&N. I just took a long trip of about 3000 miles and will finish it up today, so I will post the numbers tonight or tomorrow.

We just had the nasty low pressure system roll through Iowa the past two days. Going to Des Moines, with a 30mph sustained tail wind, I got 22.3 mph driving at 70mph. Coming back, I got 12.6mpg on the same road (which is pretty darn flat). On level ground the truck kept downshifting to push the headwind.

Wind plays a HUGE part in mileage for these trucks. I haven't been able to noticeably alter fuel economy with filter or fluid changes in my 65k of highway driving.

BTW we just switched to winter blend fuels in Iowa, because my mileage dropped 1.5 almost overnight and is now locked in at about 16.5mpg per tank of highway driving.

RP "made my car run worse than before" ? Did you put it in the gas tank? WOW full syntetic oil made it run worse? What kind of car?

I got rid of my windshield wipers and the reduced drag gained me 3 mpg.

I go to UCSD so I have driven many times from L.A. to S.D. and back.

I have cruised at 74mph the entire way and have gotten 20mpg flat.
I have also cruised at 80mph the entire way and have gotten 22.5mpg flat.

I am thinking that temperature can make a big difference. I have gotten 19mpg before also at 74mph

Last week I cruised at 65mph the last 44 miles and got 25.5mpg

I find that hard to believe on California goatpiss gas, Brute. If you are basing this on the lie-o-meter, are you confirming it with actual gallons/miles math? If it confirms, you are very lucky. What model is the truck, what engine, tranny, and axle ratio?

i drive 65 with cruise control and only get 16.1- 16.3 on a warm day what the hell is wrong with my truck is you guys are getting 19 at 80mph

MPG estimates from the truck's meter. I don't do calculator math anymore because I found it to be pretty accurate (I'm an econ major I know my math)

I know about winter blend diesel fuel, but I've never heard of winter blend gasoline and I live in one of those climates, too. What do they do to winterize it?

EDIT: Please strike my last comment from the record. Google helped me understand. Wow, I just never knew that.
