Gas door broke today!

So I stopped today at the gas station to fill my truck up, I got out and opened the gas door and filled up then I closed the door like normal and went to get in the truck when it popped back open hitting the side of the bed and it was hanging at an angle. So I looked at it and tried closing it once again and it again sprung back open but this time I did not allow it to hit the paint again. So with further inspection the gas door is broke. It will be going into the dealer tmrw to get this issue fixed, but until then I have covered the gas door with a micro fiber towel so as to not scratch the paint on the bed.

Can't really tell, I tried removing the whole assembly but ran into some issue's so I'm gonna just take it in so as to avoid any issue with the dealership.

I was told the whole assembly is made out of plastic including the clips so, they believe the clips are broken but they wont know till they remove it. Thats why they just ordered the whole assembly when they saw it. He basically said being that its an all plastic assembly there is no way to repair them just replace them.

Part was replaced yesterday the issue was the use of plastic clips which will fail in time, I was just lucky to get a set which failed well before they should.

I hope Ford will have the decency of issuing a TSB or something so the dealers don't give any grief to those that suffer this problem...

Let me play fool: What if the warranty runs out... Is that just "wear and tear"?
