Well I know what some on here are gonna say already because i have posted this before. I have a factory freak truck, but I am getting great mileage and yes I have done the math by hand and by the dash and it all adds up. I bought the truck on July 14, 2010 I dont use it very much at all just to pull my boat and here and there really..

Like i said I know the haters are gonna throw flames and remarks but I dont care I love my truck and every thing about it....

I fail to see the issue, ALL of you are getting way better mileage than me; Hell the guy above me doubled my mileage pulling a boat!! I hook up the boat and might as well carry gas cans, for the truck not the boat... My last tank came to 8.6 mpg, still think your getting bad gas mileage?

Too bad you can't see the adaptive mileage thing that's on the upper model trucks. You would probably have 2/5 bars showing. You don't get 26mpg going 70mph. Sorry.

Mike, you must have gotten the top secret, super efficient "not for public release" version of the F150 by mistake.

Either that, or your trailer is self propelled and pushing the truck?

At any rate...

Everyone has there own view, my own view is that this is instant mileage it does not represent total mileage all the time. I have had the truck all most two months and have 1300 miles or so on it now. I dont use it hardly so to me it does not matter what negative comments there are. I love my truck and I know how well it pulls my big Baja Boat.

I dont know what the adaptive mileage thing is that is on upper model trucks is?? Everyone enjoy what you have and next time I will just keep my 2 cents to my self...

It's like a signal bar on a cellphone. Bad gas mileage, bad reception. Bars go down as mileage does. Easiest way to explain it. It is really pointless.

Mine gets about 16.5 running 80 on the interstate empty. Thats with 87 octane. With e85 it gets about 14 even.
If I pull a trailer and use my foot to shotgun the hills and keep it locked into OD, I can squeak 12.5 mpg. If I let the cruise do it, I get about 10.5 because is downshifts constantly. That is pulling a 3400lb enclosed trailer.

Mine downshifts all the time in 6th gear empty running 80. The computer will not let this thing lug up hills at all. It has that variable valve timing engine, it should just advance the cams and boost the torque and pull the hills instead of downshifting. I hate it when it does that. Needs 4.10 gears. Wouldn't downshift as badly. Of course, it wouldn't run 2100rpm either at 80mph.
There are times when my engine runs really strong, and other times it doesn't. Not sure what the conditions have to be to get it to pull strong, but like to figure that out.

All in all, I like the looks of it, and the way it drives. Smooth and quiet. What I don't like is the miserable piece of crap A/C, and the paper thin sheet metal. If you took the paint off this thing you could see through the sheet metal. The tailgate is already bent, and I just stepped on it to load something. The doors are so thin, they flutter when you shut the door. I shut the door very lightly, because I am afraid I will hurt it. I guess you can't have everything.

Of all the mods you have done, the tune is the only thing that might net you some gas mileage. The K+N and exhaust won't help a bit and might actually hurt it. If the engine gets more air, it will use more fuel to keep your ratio correct. I would probably go back with the stock air box.
The only other thing I would wonder about is maybe the variable valve timeing is not doing its job and changing the valve timing like it should be doing. Not sure how you check for that.

I have 3.73's with 33*11" tires and i am getting 11.5 to 12. i am right at 5000 miles. my 04 with 3.73" and 35" tires was getting 14.5 with a 4 speed auto. I am really not happy about this either. i was hoping to run 37"s when these coopers are bald but if going from 32"s to 33"s cut it from 15mpg (about what everyone else seems to be getting), to run 37's i am going to be measuring the gallons per mile instead of the mpg. my brothers 72 International Harvester 1210 4dr 4wd 3/4 ton with 33"s gets better mileage than this truck and he has the 392 big block with an non over drive automatic.

Well I love my truck Too!! and I really like the way it pulls my boat and thats saying a lot coming from having a diesel. But the best I can do on average pulling the boat is around 10.5 mpg. Sure If I reset the Lie-o meter on a flat road it will start at around 45 mpg and work its way back down to 16. I guess you got a rare one of a kind truck there. I'm jealous.

Hey thanks! It kinda sounds like our trucks are the same. I saw a slight difference adding those mods. To me, a .5-1 mpg gain from all those items is HUGE when the truck started out getting barely 14 mpg. On the form, i metioned all the mods done, and it sounded like the guys at PHP could tune for that. So hopefully your right, and the truck just can't adapt, in which case the PHP tune should correct that.
