Ordering 2011 F-150 EB
Ordering 2011 F-150 EB
Does anyone know any good tips to get at deal when you order a truck new from the dealer? I always negotiate and get a great deal on dealer inventory. This will be my first time ordering one... I have the X-Plan, but as far as I am concerned that is just the starting point...
Does anyone know what the "future availability" of the EcoBoost is? Has anyone heard a release date?
Does anyone know how soon we can place orders?
Thanks,

I don't know the answers to your last two questions, but I will tell you that X-Plan is a no haggle price. It is not just a starting point. If you go in there, and give them that, that will be the price. At least that is how I understand it, but I have not personally ordered a truck using an X-Plan pin.
I don't think the dealers have a choice to mark it up if you walk in with an X-Plan PIN. Like SportoTracto said, it's a no haggle price. However, I have only bought from dealer inventory, so I don't know how it works if you build one and I could be totally wrong.
The EB would have to have awesome numbers when compared with the other engine options for this to be effective. Other than possible bragging rights why pay a premium of $4/5/10K for an engine that gets 1-5 mpg better gas mileage? Many Ford fans are not convinced the EB will do well in a truck, so there really aren't that many bragging rights except maybe the hp and tq numbers, but that has yet to be seen.
I pulled them out of my posterior. Ford hasn't released any numbers yet. I was commenting on the speculation that dealerships would increase the price of the EB. I agree the $2k estimate is probably very close, but then add the dealer gravy that we were discussing. It would have to be enough to be worth the bad PR and I don't think a couple hundred dollars would be worth it.

You won't be able to place an actual order until the options you want have been entered into the order system. Then, you can see exactly how much the vehicle will cost. If your dealer accepts your X-Plan order, you will be price protected in the event there are any price increases between the time you order and the time it arrives for delivery. The price is firm, the doc fees are capped at $75; but if you are trading in something, a dealer can take make some extra profit there.
I agree with 1depd. I think that Ford feels that there is going to be a level of sceptecism with respect to a V-6 in a full size pickup. V-8's rule and I think Ford is expecting the EB to take off right away, but grow over time one people get a feel for it. I want an EB, but it is more becaue I am at altitude in Denver and am frequently in the mountains at high elevations, plus i hope a little boost in gas mileage.
Also on the X-Plan. I have negotiated down from the X-Plan price PLUS the rebates to save a ton on a few cars, they were a 2004 F-150, 2004 Explorer Eddie Bauer, and a 2006 Mustang Gt. I just let them know right away when I walk in that I consider it a starting point and they usually play along...

I highly doubt that you will be able to negotiate down from X-plan price in this situation. You may even have a hard time getting them to even accept your order - I don't think they are required to. I would also expect a very high demand for a turbocharged engine in Denver, you may be waiting quite a while for delivery.
