Is it realistic for someone to install a lowering kit without air tools?

Hey guys. I want to install a 2/4 drop kit on my truck and the only tools I have are sockets, screwdrivers, ect - nothing powered by air. I know there is a bolt on the lower control arm that you have to remove to replace the spindle/shock assembly that requires something like 280 ft/lbs. That seems pretty high for just hand tools. Ideas?

280ft/lbs is nothing if you have quality tools. I am not a big person and can put down 120ft/lbs semi easily on a 16-18" torque wrench. Get out your 3/4" breaker bar, put a pipe on the end of it, and you now I have 5' bar, which is like 56ft/lbs on a 1 foot ratchet, which is pretty easy.

The leverage is a great thing.

It can be your friend. The ancients used it wisely too.

Good luck.

a breaker bar and a 3 ft pipe and you will have no trouble, but it will take longer and might be harder on the back and knees

Torque spec is similar for the bolt on on the LCA on my truck. I put on a leveling kit without air tools. A good cheater bar is the way to go. You'll probably have to buy/"rent" a b'gass socket though.

Electric impact guns are fairly affordable and quite handy.

I installed a 2/4 drop on my old truck with no problem at all. No air tools....just hand tools and a helping hand. Go for it!
