This is correct. If your going to go aftermarket please keep sync. Sync is much better than any of the aftermarket voice activation radios I've seen thus far. Just pay the extra for the kit that's all.

I disagree, I hated Sync.

I went to Crutchfield.com, they have a good website that allows you to see what fits your specific vehicle, but they only have three options and I don't like them. The manufacturer websites don't allow you to see what fits your specific vehicle.
It is the scosche painted. I had it done at a body shop for 50.

Since most people seem to buy the Metra or Scosche kit, does that mean that an aftermarket double-din head unit will not install into the factory double-din opening?

I just bought a 2011 Platinum (ordered it non-nav) and I was planning to order the Platinum dash bezel for a nav unit, but not if I can't install my AVIC z120bt in the factory nav bezel.

Worst case, I'll order the Schosche kit and take it to one of the hydro-imaging places so they can cover it to match the Platinum graphics.

I know it's an old thread, but if your still looking for matching kit, check sonicelectronix.com they have some woodgrain match kits.

Very nice - it looks like Metra is making kits finished to match the factory finish for the various trim levels, but not for the 2011 yet.

I'll contact Metra and see if they have plans for the 2011's....

Just so y'all know, I found out that with kenwood DNX6990HD or higher you can use idatalinks maestro and keep Sirius, synch and all your options. I adjust went to crutch field and I got a wood grain metra dash kit and all the harnesses etc for dang good price. Don't know about the oem backup camera that is at the moment displaying in the rear view mirror. I don't know if i will need another kit or harness to add it into the nav unit. Any help would be great on that. My truck is 2010 f150 lariat with Sony stereo.

After looking into these as well I stumbled upon a Rosen after-market navigation. I loved the look of this unit as it looks stock and works with Sync. I see a few members have installed them and the reviews on line have been mostly positive.

I did speak with my local stereo guy who said that the units were "junk". Anyone heard anything positive or negative about the unit. They are running around the $750 price line.

Yes, I'm with you. I absolutely hate Sync. About every other week suddenly my phone will disconnect and the ONLY way I've found to get it to reconnect and stay that way is to remove the fuse for 5 minutes and then do a complete reset of Sync and finally, pair my phone again. Nothing short of all those steps works.
Did I say that I hate Sync?
