I only financed $8,000 because a CD I was going to use to pay off the balance had not yet matured (1 month away). I told them that up front.

Ford credit assumes the dealer knows if the vehicle is going to be paid off or not. Ford credit losing money on the interest so they charge the dealer. It has nothing to do with a kick back. I don't know what your dealer told you, i don't honestly understand why they would tell you to wait with $8,000 sounds like they were trying something other then what is being talked about here. Or were you only financing $8000? Either way its not a kickback, its a penalty put upon the dealer because they assume you knew the vehicle was going to be paid off and you still gave the rebate.

I understand what you are saying but the dealer still gets a charge from Ford Credit for such an early pay off. There are no games being played i dont know why some dealers just dont explain how this work its not any thing thats a secret.
