the wrench light showed up after an oil change

took the truck into a dealership for an oil change and the little wrench light showed up on the dash after about ten miles. i know thats the limp home mode but would the dealer have done anything during an oil change that would cause that? i made it home and checked the oil level, which was fine, and there werent any codes so i went ahead and reflashed to the custom tune again. has anyone with a tuner had this happen after leaving the dealer?

Did you tell the dealer drones that you had a tune in it? It's possible they ran your vin against an update list and yours came up as needing a reflash.

didnt mention it. id always thought they would instantly void a warranty if you told them you had a custom tune. so if they reflashed the program, it could cause a problem? i did notice that there was a puddle of oil under the truck today so im deffinately gonna have to take it back in.

NEVER have a dealership reflash a chipped/programmed vehicle....it will usually cause your programmer to be locked out and cause issues with the truck. If you're lucky it will take Ford's program on the PCM and override your performance tune...then you have to figure out how to add your performance tune back to the truck. ALWAYS turn it back to stock programming if you have the option before you give it to the dealership. Service departments will always check the vehicle and change it to the newest PCM Flash.

If you got the wrench light you probably do not have enough oil pressure. Did you check the oil level? Or the filter was not put on properly. Either way take it back since you're still under warranty.

thanks for the help. i forgot to mention this in my original post but luckily i did put it back to stock before i took it in. i havent had the light come back on since i put the tune back in, but do you think i should still take it back in? the puddle was just some spillage after the oil change(i hope), since i havent seen anymore drips.

Oh I didn't mention on the "other" forum but having the skid plates I noticed they do hold a little oil so the little puddle could be from the oil drained laying on the plates. HTH!

dont have the skid plates anymore, but i did crawl under the truck and saw some oil streaks down the lift brackets. but a few days after, all seems well so looks like it wasnt a big deal.
