Starter Cut Off Switch

I'm looking to put in a starter cut off switch to my 2010 Screw. I want to mount a toggle switch somewhere under the dash. This is something I have always done in my previous cars and trucks but it was a lot easier back in the day when the started solenoid was on the inner fender next to the battery. Now the solenoid is connected to the starter and I am having trouble tracing the wire to the top side where I can tap into it. I don't want to mess with the fuse box with its mass of wires.
This is something I like to do above and beyond an alarm.
Has anyone here tried this?

Thanks

Can't say I've thought about it. How often are F150s stolen?

Would you consider one of these?

I thought you were going to have a picture of a 44 mag or 12 gauge.
The Ravelco is pretty nice, but its still just under $500. For the time being I was hoping to just spend a couple bucks and throw in a cut off and maybe an alarm or even a Ravelco later on.
A cut off switch is just one more thing for a thief to deal with. I had one on an old Jeep CJ and it worked. Someone got into it, broke the ignition but still couldn't get it started because I had hidden a toggle under the dash.

Johnwill: Its great that you don't live in an area where they don't steal cars and trucks, but I'm not so lucky.

Gir: Don't know, don't care. I just don't want mine stolen.

You do know that you have a factory installed immobilizer right?

Yes I do. I figured anything factory can be bypassed. A cut off switch is just one more thing.

Unless they have a programmed key that matches your truck they can't bypass the immobilizer. If you try to start the truck with out the right key it will disable the fuel pump. Once this happens it has to be towed to a dealer to be re-enabled.

I'm thinking of installing an alarm with a remote start. Isn't the Securilock then bypassed?

As far as I know the alarm activates the securilock module to start the truck so they would have to hack the alarm system to start the truck which I'm sure is not easy.

Since we know that all alarms can be disabled, then the securilock module can be bypassed. I've always had alarms but always like to have an extra ignition or started cut off as insurance. I always figure the more time a thief takes to steal the truck the more likely he'll leave it alone. My truck sits outside 24/7, but at least there is enough traffic passing by that if it is taking to long someone might see something.

I know you are just trying to make it harder on the thief. The thing is that they are already very hard to steal. The most common method is to just tow it away to somewhere they can take the time to reprogram the PATS controller. There is nothing you can do to stop this method.

There are several companies that already make very low profile rear wheel lift tow trucks. They even make them out of F-350's that look almost completely normal until the lift arm comes out of the rear. Repo people have been using them for years. They can have your truck and be out of there is less than 20 seconds. They will stop down the road out of sight and strap it down to be legal and not draw attention.

Your starter switch is also not the most effective method. If they figure out that's the problem and have the rest bypassed (which is not likely) they can take a small jumper across the starter and it will crank. It will take them less that 30 seconds.

Your best bet would be to break the power feeding the fuel pump.

Of course I live in an area where they steal cars, just like you.

Its just that this starter cut off thing is not needed, that's all and a wste of time and effort.

Thanks

Living in South Texas close to the border. I want to add some sort of security or starter cutoff aswell. I've heard about trucks being stolen by drug cartels and being sent to Mexico. And really dont want my truck to disappear at a mall or gas station. Id be great if someone with the patience and knowledge to make a wirte-up.
