Steering wheel radio control skips channels

Not sure if this is the right section to post this question but here goes.

When I change radio channels via the center dash control (I think it's consider the "Seek") button that has the left and right triangle, sort of like this < > . The channels will change one at a time incrementally (ie. channel 1, 2, 3, 4....)each time the button is pressed. But when I change radio channels via the steering control many channels are skipped (ie. channge 1, 8, 22,....)each time the button is pressed.

Is this how it works or do I need to select some option in order to have the steering control button to function like the center dash button?

Hope this made some kinda sense.

This happened to me earlier today, I was curious about this also. Is there some kind of random button I accidentally hit?

The one on the steering wheel is for presets, not seek. It goes from one preset to the next.

Oh okay so just set the presets you want and you wouldnt need to seek anyway from the steering wheel, makes sense. Kinda wish it WOULD let u seek but I guess you can always do that from the dash.

I believe you can do 10 presets per band, AM, FM1, FM2, SAT1, SAT2, SAT3.

As will I, I guess thats smarter & safer than seeking through while your driving. Plus you already know what channels you like and dont like so its more convenient.

Also when you use the USB port, like I do with a USB stick and hundreds of songs, it will jump to the next song or go back. That assumes you have Sync.

Ok, here's a related question. The button on the steering wheel below the one we've been talking about, the audio button, moves from one audio source to the next, ie AM, then FM1, FM2, SAT1, SAT2, SAT3, jukebox.

I decided not to renew the sat radio when my free trial expired, but this button still cycles through the three Sat bands, and it just says sirius subscription not active.

So is there a way to set it so that it goes right from FM2 to jukebox, and doesn't cycle through the three sat bands?? It skips CD if you don't have a CD in the slot, can I make it skip sat?

Not to my knowledge. It does the same on the button on the radio, cycles through all, not just what you have.

The < > buttons on the steering wheel will allow you to seek stations AND presets. If you just tap the button once it will go to the next preset. If you hold the button for a couple of seconds it will SEEK whether its on FM or USB or sirius.

^^ That's correct, and if you hold it in the jukebox mode, it will fast forward or reverse the song you are listening to.
