new member question about tires with OEM wheels

Hey everyone ive been stalking the forums for a while and finally decided to register.

I have a 2010 F150 4x4 super cab xlt. i have the tiny meats on mine now 235/75R17 on factory 17 x 7.5 aluminum wheels

I would like to go bigger with tires, i was thinking 285/70R17's, along with an auto spring 1.5" leveling kit

However i will be retaining the OEM wheels when i do this. Has anyone any insight about going this bigger of a tire with OE wheels without any rubbing issues?

I work at a local ford dealer and the larger factory 17's (265/70R17) look pretty tight in between the section width and the upper control arm

Just curious to see if this can be done with OEM wheels, im not a big wheel nut and i just want bigger tires than the skinny mins on mine now ahah! thanks alot everyone!

Minimum rim width for 285/70R17's is 7.5. You are okay there. I don't know about clearances though.

I ordered my F-150 XLT with P265/70R 17 in tires. I like them but I wouldn't want a tire any wider.....

You will not have any rubbing issue with that size tire. Even without a leveling kit.

P.S. One of the options for the the FX4 for 09 was the 275/70R17. Yours aren't much bigger.
