Like several on here, I have struggled with getting the seat backs in my 2009 SCrew down to place items behind the seat. I usually need to grab a wrench to place over the head of the release lever and it takes a few tries to get everything positioned just right

Well I think I have come up with a quick, easy, and functional mod for this issue.

Step 1

This step requires lowering the seatback by pulling up on the release button in order to get the seat into position to start the mod. I know it's a pain, but doing so will help you appreciate this mod even more.

Step 2

Take a wire tie strap and fasten the end together forming a circle, then place it over the head of the release button on your seat as shown below.




Step 3

Take a smaller wire tie strap and form a second circle with it then place over the first tie strap as shown below.




Step 4

Trim the ends of the tie straps and rotate the larger one so that the square portion of the tie strap holds the smaller tie strap into position and keeps the larger one from coming off of the release button. You now have a loop which will make it much easier to release the seat back when you want to let them down.




This should make it so much easier to gain access to the area behind the rear seat. Enjoy!

From the look of the pic. Is that the outside of the passenger side? Where is it located on the driver side.

 

it is about 3" to towards the drivers side of the truck from the head rest. If you raise your seat bottom it will tilt the seat back a few inches away from the wall and allow enough room to slide your hand down there and feel the latch. My arms are pretty small and i barely have enough room to reach it.. Good Luck

edit: yes that is the passenger side.

No, they're bolted to the back and require a long screwdriver to pop hidden clips to get the seat backs out. They don't flip up and down like the screw cabs.

But, one question. What exactly do you need to get way back in that tiny space to store behind the rear seats of a SCREW? There's so much room both inside the cab and in the bed. You talking like to store jumper cables or something back behind the seats there?

 

I am actually looking to install an amp behind the seat myself.

 

yeah when I get my truck (next week) i plan on mounting both my amps, my 4 cross overs and my distribution block back there. I am use to a regular cab and it will be nice to have a place to mount everything and keep it looking nice.
